You have comprehension issues. I'm not supporting him. We were talking about his college career. You brought it up. Stay in topic.
There's this perception that Allen needs to be completely developed from the ground up. I just think that's totally ridiculous. He played in a pro style offense & lead a 2 win team to 2 straight bowl appearances. Does he have things to work on? Of course he does. But he doesn't need to be taught "how to play the game". He needs to clean up the over striding on the top of his drops & become more decisive. Is there a projection within that? Yes there is. But it's not far fetched by any means & if he were to come here he'd be sitting for a year to learn just that anyway. I think people get too scared off by any type of projection. And there's no position w. more projections involved than QB. Just b.c the guy has things to work on doesn't mean he's new to the game of football or something.
I didn't see this posted or referred to anywhere on TGG or this thread. Before you go to crazy referencing Chad..take a look at who he thinks is the best QB in the class. Already heard the Rex bashing..are folks really gonna throw Penny under the bus too? http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/art...rospects/f2f66403-c71a-4084-a82a-92067b8694ce
Chad Pennington should be hired by the Jets in some capacity and his voice should be heard loudly. I wish he was in that Front Office right now yesterday
There was an article yesterday w most of the same quotes w a headline that “Pennington prefers Allen” followed by a quote that he thinks he’s “a cut above if he has time to sit”. I was not able to find it but will keep looking. It was from the team site & written by Eric Allen much like this article
You support anything to bring Baker down. Mark Sanchez and Baker Mayfield have nothing in common as far playing qb goes.
You too?! . . OH MY GOD!! . . I loved Mahomes coming out too! . I think I still do. . He's my favorite football idol, . NYJet or not. .. And his arm, OH MY GOD! . it's so big. The key difference is Mahomes has played one NFL game and is a shoo-in for the HOF in Canton. Josh Allen has not played one NFL game yet and he will not make the Pro Football Hall of Fame. .
Well for the Rex haters and Allen lovers this should kill off any notion that the Jets are taking Allen...right
I don't think there was anyone talking about Hackenberg when he came out. He was nowhere on the radar cause he had some horrible years leading up to the draft. Then Macc made an extra trip to Penn State and what he saw nobody knows. But here it is 3 years later and he hasn't seen the field and the Jets wasted tons of capital to trade up this year, plus signed 2 other QB's in the offseason. So yeah Macc had no credibility at evaluating and drafting QB. What is clever is the heat is off him to produce one for another year. Everyone knows he will take a QB and that QB will sit for a year. So his job is safe until that QB plays.
I like Rex too but not on this. Ron Wolf eyes and mind must be gone now. He's the one that gave us Bowles and Maccagnan.
RE: Rex's endorsement of Josh Allen. Rex is also on record saying his brother Rob looks good in a swimsuit.
It's not reading comprehension, it's that you're illiterate. And have no idea what you're talking about. As usual. Bring Baker down? WTF are you talking about? Because your panties are twisted in that Sanchez and Baker both have been said to have had the fortune to throw to a lot of wide open WRs? After you attacked me for thinking I was supporting Sanchez? Because you can't read. That made you oh, so mad? You're a baby and should stop talking sports if that makes you sooooooo mad.
They're not the same. Sanchez was trending in the right direction but was also only a starter for 1 season plus like 2 sophomore games. And while his completion percentage was good, it was not Mayfield good and he hadn't done it for as long and as consistently as Mayfield has. Plus Mayfield has an overall better arm than Sanchez. Mayfield has a large body of work. He can make any throw. There are plenty of examples of him making advanced NFL level throws into tight, rapidly closing windows.
You definitely saw too many instances in college of when Sanchez had an open guy with daylight but over or under threw which forced his receivers to have to make acrobatic plays on the ball and eliminate and potential YAC. Sure you get a completion out of it and a nice 30 yards added to your stats but really it should've been a 60 yard TD. Mayfield hits guys in stride and places the ball perfectly
This isn't complicated. I said they both have had people remark that most of their completeions came from passes to wide open WRs. I get you guys will defend your guy at all costs but this is what was said. Who had a higher % or played longer has nothing to do with it. Anymore than anyone adding that Mayfield played on a more talented team against weaker opponents.
Like Sanchez and Geno? You forget that behind the stats are actual throws in real football situation in College. Yes, god given talent cannot be taught, but even with all the talent Allen was just an OK College QB who could not complete his throws at high rate. That also requires a talent, and the concern is that Allen doesn't have it.
And we forget that there are 10 other people who need to do their job in order to complete a pass. If the QB delievers that ball and the receiver isn't there or doesn't do his part in the process the QB catches the blame too often. That's why you can have a case where fans who read stat sheets worry more about a QB than evaluators who watch plays.
This is why it is absolutely ridiculous to look at a a few videos, which are statistically insignificant, as opposed to entire body of work. Mayfield had the highest completion % on passes 20 yards + downfield. And even when adjusted for dropped balls, and catchable balls, Allen was still on the bottom and Mayfield on top along with Rosen, taken entire body of work last year. Yet here you are posting several videos that don't even represent 1% of all body of work, and making a conclusion, while forgetting the big picture.
