Too many people are hung up on the idea of fixing our team with a QB at 3. You really think Mayfield and Allen will be our future QB? It's not me who doesn't understand football. What we have at QB is better than Allen and Mayfield. What's so hard to understand about fixing the roster? Whether we draft a QB now or later, Barkley is the best option at 3. Not Allen or Mayfield, unless you enjoyed the play of Nacho Sanchez? I sure didn't. We are rebuilding. You don't draft a rookie QB and build around him, way too many holes to put the franchise on the back of someone who may not make it as an NFL QB. Why is that so hard to understand for all you QB people?
Because your argument can be used for any QB prospect. Clearly most of us recognize that there are 4 great QB prospects in the draft and we MUST swing at one, and we will. Without a franchise QB we go nowhere.
So Allen or Mayfield won't be Nacho part 2? What we have here is a major difference in our views on what a good QB will be in the NFL. I would take Barkley all day over those two. McCown is better, that is not good. Surely, the brass will see that as well and not skip on a player that will contribute now and in the future.
No they will not. The brass sees what we all do which is the need for a franchise QB. It's why we moved up to begin with. I hate to break it to you dude, but we're 100000% taking a QB, the owner confirmed as much. The cult of Barkley is over and has been since we moved up.
That's true...IF the QB we draft becomes the FQB. Not to put words in tbruner's mouth, but I think he's saying that there's a good chance - in his opinion - that the FQB isn't Allen or Mayfield, and if they are the choices left with Barkley, he thinks Barkley is the safer choice. If I agreed that Mayfield/Allen aren't pretty certain FQBs I would agree with his idea of taking Barkley over settling on someone who won't become the FQB.
Once we moved up, the safe choice option died. We MUST take a swing at a QB now, and we obviously will.
Right, but I doubt Mac traded three 2nd round picks to get a RB. I believe(at least I hope) that Mac has 3 QB's he's willing to take knowing that there's a decent chance the Browns and Giants both take a QB. Just have to hope that he picks the right one.
Yes, because Macc believes there are four viable FQB options. And if he only believed in two, then he likely either would not have traded to 4 or he would've moved heaven and earth to get to 1 or 2 But if for some reason, after further digesting all the data he decided that only Darnold and Rosen were worth it, and having traded to 3, in that situation he might consider Barkley the safer bet. However, that's not what I'm advocating. I agree with you: the trade up #3 was done for the SOLE purpose of landing a FQB.
Yep, the Cult of Barkley has died out tremendously since we signed Rawls, so hopefully the remaining small and idiotic portion of the fan-base who want wanted Barkley can face reality.
You stop already with your bias and lies (he was terrible on the white board). If he was so terrible, please provide proof (links, articles, some form of proof to document your absurd claim).
Do people still use that 80's crap about a picture in the dictionary? Who the hell owns a dictionary anymore?
I believe it was Jackson and Allen who did poorly on the white board. Read this about Mayfield https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2018/3/24/17159640/baker-mayfield-wonderlic-test-draft
After listening to what his coach at UCLA said about his commitment to the game , Rosen scares the crap out of me. Mayfield is the guy this team needs , both personality wise and talent wise, Mayfield is the guy .
