Your retort has left me grasping, there's so much football acumen to dissect.

I've watched tape of Allen, and sure he completes some great passes, and has some great passes dropped, but he also makes some poor passes and poor decisions. He is by no measure a "sure thing". Br4d hit the nail on the head: he needs to go to a team that has a track record of developing QBs, and preferably in a small market so that he can develop without a media chumfest over everything he does. I've changed my opinion to where I don't think he's a bust, but he might not reach his potential either, and I think the pressure to succeed in NY will be enormous, and may well crush him.

Either way you are eating some of the paper wrapper, that’s why they can be had later in the draft

He could've been a pro tennis player - longer shelf life - yet chose football. Moreover, to have developed his ability took a lot of commitment, and lots of hours.

No chance. He was a 4-5 star recruit, which would make him a good D1 player but nowhere near good enough for the ATP. Pro tennis is brutal, you have to be top 200 in the world just to break even.

I'd do it too if I could cash in a lottery ticket for 20 million dollars and a chance at a broadcasting career.

Look that the worthess schmucks who call games for NCAA right now.

Good luck peeling the paper off those MJ's. The wrapper sticking to MaryJanes is the post-concussion syndrome of the candy world.

Wow, I didn't even see this. Hahaha. Damn, no wonder I hired you!

Bit o Honey does have a paper problem too, but not like Mary Jane. Come on. With Mary Janes the paper is crustified onto the candy.

Eating a piece of wax paper while you're chewing a Bit O Honey is like getting a pube in your mouth while you eat the pussy of a hot girl.

Do you really give a shit?

I prefer Mayfield, but realistically I see the board looking like this:

    1) Darnold
    2) Mayfield
    3) Rosen

Allen to me is in the same class as Jackson. Both guys arguably have more innate "talent" than the top 3, and both guys arguably have significant holes in their game that make success anything but guaranteed.

For all the huffing and puffing going on, no one is taking Jackson seriously. But that's because he isn't getting the narrative love that Allen is.

I agree with Br4d. Both Allen and Jackson are best served on teams that know what to do with a developmental QB (not the Jets) and have a media market that is more on the friendly side (not the Jets).

You are more than capable of showing me where I'm wrong. I'm completely open minded to the subject. The problem is no one has yet to show me legitimate evidence of that.

Also, give me some credit. I've been on the Mayfield train since November. I was originally a Darnold guy and spent way too much time watching him and Rosen. It wasn't until November that I got sick of Darnold and Rosens turnovers and started looking for alternatives. That led me to Mayfield. Haven't looked back since.

But but accuracy isn't a number or stat, it's the ability to place the ball where it needs to be when it needs to be there, and Allen shows that very well.

And you're puffing a piece on the other side of the argument. The real question is who's puff piece is bigger?

The issue with Mayfield is that he doens’t have the talent that those other guys do. He’s got bust written all over him.

With that sour puss Rosen better plan on broadcasting via radio. Lol

I agree though football is just a means to an end for him. money and his next career.

i expect a brief, uninspiring, and injury riddled career that will leave a trail of coaches fired, and no second contract from the team who drafts him.
first firing excuse being 'he just needs a coach who can challenge and inspire him'.

Not really fair to say this. He was the best in college by a wide margin. He has a legit NFL arm, is the most accurate, throws with the best anticipation and has nuisance and feel to his game that the others lack.

Talent is not an issue, height and the offense he played in and how that translates to the NFL might be though.

I'm really surprised Rex wouldn't talk up a guy like Mayfield? They actually have a lot in common. They're both extremely vocal about who they are and what they're capable of. They both wear their emotions on their shirt sleeve. I would think they'd be the perfect match if Rex were still coaching the Jets.

I've always liked Rex and I like Mayfield. They seem to be two uncompromising men? Uncompromising men are easy to admire especially when their expectations are to be the very best.

Not from what I've seen. Yes, at times he does, but at other times, no. The bigger issue to me is his decision-making and timing.
