It's great to have different opinions here. What I don't get is why some choose to act like their opinions are facts.
yeah i don't get that either personally. that and when people get angry at those with a differing opinion. or when people ignore facts because they don't align with their opinion. that never made sense to me either. all forums could use a bit more "open-mindedness" IMO
I've posted this before, but logically speaking, there have been 3 big QB names over the past year: Darnold, Rosen, and Allen. I don't think the Jets would trade up for anyone besides them. It's not impossible, and that is why many fans think it is Mayfield, but I think it is unlikely. The one reason it is possible is the thinking that someone would trade up with the Colts, and the Broncos would select a QB at #5. In that scenario, the Jets would have to trade up, even if their target was Mayfield. I agree with @EnunwaFan and @SolidGoldBowles it is nice we have different opinions, but no way anyone knows for sure. 73-41 votes for Mayfield over Allen is really surprising though. I expected the opposite.
IDK it's also possible that the jets trading to 3 was more thinking browns Darnold Giants Rosen Broncos Allen it's likely mayfield would be there at 6. even upcoming now with us moving to 3, i say it's still possible mayfield falls out of the top 10. If they giants don't take QB and we take rosen at 3, the broncos could take allen at 5, and the next QB needy team would be the bills at 12, although miami could take one at 11 or even trade down for a team like arizona to move up and take mayfield.
Hahahahahaha The majority is not always correct ...but in this case a NO BRAINER Which is why with Toilet and Macdoodling we COULD be in big trouble I want to trust This FO to make the right call but nothing is CERTAIN till draft night
I love Mayfield, in the third round. This is so Jets like. Give up more value than the trade up is worth and draft a 2nd day pick at 3 because he's a football guy. There is nothing wrong with Mayfield. I think he's an excellent college player and might even succeed at the next level. He might even be great at the next level. I think it's bat shit insane to draft him with the 3rd pick in the draft.
it's not a no brainer, if it was cleveland would be considering mayfield with the 1st pick, not allen. also all the "experts" would be in agreement. it's never a NO BRAINER in the draft, but mayfield is by far the scariest prospect to hinge your franchise on out of the top 4, the people who don't see that aren't looking very closely
When Your boy Allen drops like a rock or someone is desperate enough to take him (relieving our worries) then you think differently Till then no need to keep up the tit for tat with the Allen ballwashing..I see where you stand Let's agree to disagree Sonny
Production, leadership and commitment are big issues for me. I like a kid that stays in college for their Senior year. Just on a side note here is a list of a dozen top starting QBs who stayed in college for their senior year: Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson. Nick Foles, Derek Carr, Eli Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Cam Newton, Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan, and Ben Roethlisberger. In the last 15 Super Bowls the only two winning QBs not in that group are Peyton Manning who was a Senior when drafted and Aaron Rogers who was the only Junior. Yet, the majority of QBs drafted each year and in the 1st round each draft are underclassmen. It is proven year after year and draft after draft that players who stay in college become better NFL career QBs. Mayfield is the only Senior among the top four rated QBs.
This is how I feel, but mid-1st round is fine for Mayfield. People keep talking about Busts, but if the player unfortunately would bust, I would want the excuse to be "I picked a guy #3 overall because he had a rocket arm, perfect size for a QB, and I felt I could correct his accuracy. Not "I picked a guy even though he was short and not worthy of the #3 overall pick because I like him and he seemed like a football guy."
The bad narrative is the one you are constantly making, as if winning the Heisman is somehow detrimental to future success in the NFL. If you can't see the odds he overcame, maybe it's because you are pretending not to. Can't see past that Allen dick in your mouth, I guess.
i'm not even an allen fan, but goes to show your attitude. you lie about him being a walk on twice and winning a job, and when i tell you the true story behind it, you ignore it and then pretend i'm some sort of allen fan. Lamaar jackson won a hiesman, i'd much rather have him over baker but niether are worth the 3 pick. neither is rosen but for rosen it's a small reach. Even if you go back months my thoght was if we can land darnold go for it, if him and rosen are gone at 6, trade back get more picks and grab jackson who coincidentally beat out mayfield for the hiesman in 2016. So will you continue to lie about mayfield beating odds? or accept he was handed a job due to 2 people ahead of him getting innjured, and then walked away form his team because he didn't want to have to earn the starting job for real in 2014 and sat out a year of college to avoid competing with webb and mahomes. but of course the truth doens't fit your narrative so you'll clearly ignore it and continue to spread lies
I think that's a reasonable position. I'm also going to say while I think it's just as bat shit crazy to pick Allen, if we did I think I would be more excited about the pick. Conceptually if your going to buy a lotto ticket, go for the big pot. As much as people are going to be upset or excited if he does pan out it would be crazy in Jetsville.
You say you're not an Allen fan and then call me a liar multiple times. Looks like we have some self-hate issues we need to devote some time to. My couch is right over there when you want to start being honest about your issues.
he's not even my boy, goes to show the immature mentality of people on this forum. I've warmed up to allen, but far from a fan of his. I can care less if he falls. I said several times over he isn't a top 5 prospect but of course you ignore it because your narrative and all darnold is a top 5 pic rosen is more off a 10-15 pick who will be over drafted allen is more of a 16 to late 1st pick who will be over drafted jackson and mayfield are 2nd rounders Allen is nothing more to me then a consolation if we can't land darnold who i truly like, or rosen who I don't mind. I'd be much happier with darnold or rosen, but i won't be upset with allen. I would be very upset with mayfield. he has bust written all over him
i'm not an allen fan. my vast post history shows just as much. you are a liar, you are still doing it right now, and on top of that quite an asshole that seems to be working towards another ban
All the Allen hate does is make me like him even more.Whats really the shame in liking a legit 1st round QB who’s been considered as such for 2 years DESPITE the below average stats all the while?Doesnt that sort of speak to how talented the kid really is?Unremarkable stats, for a below average team in a barren market & yet in a deep QB class has consistently been considered top 3 or higher for 2 years.Scouts & even the media had every reason to sweep this guy to the 2nd or 3rd round..never happened He’s not a late riser, workout warrior or anything of that sort. The fact the the QB class is so deep yet he’s consistently been mentioned among the top 3 or 4. It’s not just the big arm,it’s the size, the movement, the intangibles, the way the ball leaves his hand & the fact that he did more w less. All of issues are already well on their way to being addressed. No Allen is not a sure thing..but it is a sure thing he’ll be ready to role w improved footwork & ball placement by year 2..I see him on an upward trajectory
Lol. Sorry son, I wasn't banned, just taking a break from the retardation which people like you ferment.
