I wasn't around for the Marino thing, so I'll take your word on that one. Sapp, yeah, he should have been picked. Geno, I remember a lot of Jets fans backing. Hackenberg was up in the air. I don't recall ever seeing outside of 2-3 people talk about Garropolo. People loved Gholston, Richardson and Williams. Many thought Coples would be OK, although many did prefer (myself included) Melvin Ingram and Wilkerson was a surprise pick that Jets fans fell in love with an instant. We're as dumb as the people leading this organization, like it or not.
Not sure..... alot of former "draftnicks" on this site said I was stupid for saying Robertson, Gholston (even more, I HATED this pick) and Stephen HIll picks sucked...... but most of those guys "Died in a Fire"
Me too, but I really don’t think this is one. If you look at everything Bowles said about what he wants in a QB, it sounds an awful lot like Mayfield. Combine it with his whole shpiel about height and it really sounds like they want Mayfield. Or at least want him if Rosen and Darnold are gone.
IMO, sounds like he's describing any good quarterback. Sounds like Darnold, sounds like Rosen, sounds like Mayfield, sounds like Jackson, but it doesn't sound like Josh Allen lol ... arm strength wasn't listed by Bowles, though Bowles said he could list 10 or 20 other things. So maybe it could sound like Josh Allen. people will assume its Mayfield and to me thats the smokescreen.
Can't help but be a little excited about hearing Bowles talk like that, but I am skeptical it is just a huge smokescreen.
I think he was talking in general terms and don't think there's much to surmise about what they're truly thinking. The better info was about his approach and the guys and coaches currently on the roster. Btw, he definitely said they would try to lean plays towards the QB's talents. This is a trend in the NFL with QB's. They don't necessarily have to fit classic molds. As simple as it sounds there's been coaches in team sports that won't do that, or were less inclined to do that in the past.
I think you hit the nail on the head with that last statement. They expect 2 of the 4 to be gone and think Mayfield will be their selection at 3. But I think if Darnold or Rosen are there, its a whole new ballgame.
This right here is the REAL smokescreen. I have to wonder if Josh Allen is the biggest smokescreen of all time. After the Super Bowl, hardly anybody was talking about him and Rosen was ranked #1 by most mocks and Darnold was #2. Allen was a distant 4, but now he is surging up the ranks and it seems everybody is putting out positive messages about him to trick the Browns. PLEASE take the bait!
One thing about Mayfield vs. Rosen is that I know Mayfield can overcome adversity...I dont know if Rosen is capable of that. He may just flake out into a "I dont care" mentality. While you know, Mayfield and Allen care alot about football and leading a team
It's about time! Forcing square pegs into round holes has been the reason for a lot of failure, especially with the Jets.
I watched a Cowturd video on youtube with him last week regarding Mayfield. There's a couple of them, stumbled upon them. Cowturd is brutal
