I agree somewhat, but I don't think that anyone would sign Hack off the PS or waivers on his way to the PS. If so, so be it. The only way I'd keep Hack over Teddy is if Teddy just can't practice play or looks horrible in practice, and I seriously doubt that either of those two things would happen.

LOL I'd be willing to take that risk if we have a great rookie prospect and Teddy.

That's way below the going rate for a QB who may start a few games. Especially a vet and one that you want to be part of your team for lots of different reasons. Its a 1 year deal on a team that still has a ton of cap space with another 110+ mil next year. It's not a big deal.

Because Hackenberg sucks. And there is nothing remotely interesting associated with him. Good?

Problem is if Bridgewater is healthy or gets his health as the season goes on, he's gone next season. We'll have this years draftee starting and his backup. I would think next season Teddy would want a team where he can start.

Why would you laugh as a Jet fan is where I am going, it boils my piss.

He is still younger than when Petty was drafted btw, who knows what may happen with him yet, he certainly won't be cut this season imo.

Based on Zimmer's comments that they didn't attempt to re-sign Teddy on the advice of their medical staff even though he appeared to look good without contact they need to keep either Petty or Hack until late in camp until Teddy can prove the medical reports wrong. The question is do they keep all 5 through camp or do they cut Petty or Hack after OTA's based on who performs better? I'd be more concerned if they cut both Petty and Hack before TC and Teddy blows out his knee in pre-season game 4. Both Petty and Hack could still be available to pick up but it's not a given. They could be forced to sign a scrap heap backup with no meaningful snaps in Bates system as the week 1 backup. I want to believe in the Teddy recovery project but given the medical staff of the Vikes was adamant NOT to bring him back then I tend to believe he won't last through 4 pre-season games.

Yes, I definitely think they keep Hack through TC, and they may even keep Petty that long, but I hope not, both for their sake and his.

The thing about Teddy is that he doesn't have to play immediately. He can continue rehab, and the Jets could possibly put him on the PUP list or short-term IR. Unless his knee is just totally unstable (in which case, I don't think he would have ever passed the Jets' physical), I think he is relatively healthy. He may only be 85-90%, possibly even less, but imo unless he goes down with another injury or just stinks up the joint, I think the Jets should keep him for the entire 2018 season and see what happens. They're not going to the playoffs anyway. If Teddy can get really healthy, he gives the Jets a LOT of options going into 2018 and beyond.

I think this post is a bit half backwards...

Speculation that Petty is a gonna as well, Petty played himself out of a job the last back end, I very much doubt that Hackenberg will be released just yet, he is only a year older than Mayfield, he will be getting peanuts wage wise, still a chance we can turn him into a serviceable back up.

Project! I'm sick of projects! I hate the word 'project'! Our roof had a leak 20 years ago and messed up the ceiling in the spare bedroom! Got the roof addressed, but the spackling is unsanded to this day! The ladder is still leaning against the wall, and has become a part of the landscape! It's still a project! I should call up Vlad Ducasse and see if he can give me a handyman's special on the cheap!

I'm with you. That is why I especially don't want Allen. Give me someone who will start sooner than later. No more Hackenbergs.

4 QBs are too many in camp. Especially when 1 of them will be a rookie that you want to get as many snaps as possible.

You carry 4 until you know how Bridgewater is holding up. There's a reason he only has a $500k guarantee.

I don't like hearing this at all. Hack is only 23 years old. A 2nd Round pick. Sure, you take a QB #3 overall, keep a vet (likely McCown over Bridgewater) then let Hack be the #3. That is what I would do. Petty should have been cut awhile ago though.

Eh, it’s time to cut bait on both of them. I don’t see the upside in keeping either of them at this point. Bridgewater at least proved he can be a capable starting QB at one point in his career. We already know Petty can’t and Hackenberg can barely be a backup as it is. Rookie, McCown, Bridgewater in that order (with McCown potentially starting the first 6-8 games).
