Discussion in 'Draft' started by GasedAndConfused, Mar 26, 2018.

?

If Rosen and Darnold are gone, who would you pick with the 3rd pick?

  1. Mayfield

    63.2%
  2. Allen

    36.8%

QB's face no adversity at combines and pro days. It's literally a game of catch with a receiver lol. Can't believe Kiper gets paid to say this stuff.

lol moss was phenomenal. truly a once in a lifetime player. Chad was a good QB who's weak arm and inability to stay healthy derailed his career.

exactly what i said on the film i watched. Allen was making NFL level throws almost every completion. Other college QBs were lobbing in easy throws to wide open targets skewing their stats.

funny I caught so much shit for saying that though, wonder if those people will attack kiper with the "he don't know shit" like they attacked me for saying that

Personally, I think someone is paying him cash to hype up Josh Allen

There is nothing to suggest that a healthy career would have been "derailed" by Penny's relatively weak arm. His last pre-injury year, he put up borderline elite numbers and was a coach's dream in terms of intangibles. The world was his.

His injuries were 100% responsible for his undoing.

We ran a very limited offense with chad at the helm, he just ran it perfectly and rarely made mistakes. We had pretty much 0 ability to come from behind or win a shootout though. 2002 was his only good season when he came in a quarter way into the season to start the final 12 games and take us to the playoffs including a 41-0 rout of the manning led colts. wh then lost to the raiders in a close game due to his inability to move the offense in bad weather. 2003 he missed time due to a non throwing hand injury and only started 9 games and din't play that good at all. 13TDs to 12 INTs 3800 adjust yards (YPG times 16) in 2004 we gave him a big contract before the season, he started 13 games before tearing his rotator cuff 16TDs to 9 INTs. his adjust stats had he played 16 games would have been 19.6TDs, 11INTS, 3290 yards. then came the injury and after that he couldn't throw anything but ducks. people remember chad better then he was, it was really just the 1 year in 2002 when he saved our season running a very controlled offense

  10. This I 100% agree with. His talk of completion % not mattering anymore is going alittle too far.I think it’s severely overrated & overstated but it still has to be acknowledged & considered.

I don't disagree with any of that. I'm taking exception to your claim that his weak arm contributed to the derailment of his career. It didn't. Penny's arm was a known quantity, and if he'd never gotten hurt, he would have been a successful NFL starter for 10-15 years.

I agree with that, he had everything else you want in a QB, but he needed to be in the right system. By no means was he a QB who takes a team on the shoulder and wins them games. he was a game manager, just a really good one. in todays NFL those types of Qbs can be successful for sure, but he wasn't an all pro top QB in the NFL you build around. he was someone who can win you games in the right situation.

The bolded describes many guys. Penny was different in that he was developing into a player that you'd actually WANT to build a system around. Many coaches would have jumped at the chance to build their offense around a healthy, 26 year old Chad Pennington. It wouldn't be a sacrifice.

Yes, he wouldve been a solid franchise QB, but his arm would always prevent him from being elite, injury or not

Penny stopped developing in a meaningful way when he was playing the Bills in 2004 and stupidly dove for a first down and tore his shoulder apart untouched.

Everything after that was compensation for that one dumb play.

I guess some agents didn't pay him enough. And other agents paid him handsomely.

He's one of the fakest human beings on the planet.

Someone from Allen’s camp got to Mayock and Kiper. They’re both going way over the top defending him.
