I'm very high on Rosen as well, I've watched every snap he's taken the last season and half, and I agree with everything that's been said on his ability. We shall see, I'll be happy with anyone at this point.
Me too. It's really tough to get a read on it 100% as much as we'd like to. I think it's safe to say that Darnold and Rosen are the top two. I like Baker, and I tend to be reinforced with that from who is saying what in the media and here. There's a risk with anybody we take. Also, back to Mora, Darnold is gonna need some time to work on his fundamentals and ease in, and Mora might feel Cleveland is a safer place for him than to deal with the insanity in NY especially with us.
I think Rosen, probably more than any one in this class, determined his fate with his interviews. Nobody really questions him as a player. He has warts but those can be managed. It is him as a person that seems to be on everyone's mind. Is he just a young loud kid who is still growing up, or is he the next Jay Cutler?
I don't think the bolded statement is safe to say at all. Most experts I'm seeing have Darnold and Allen the top two. There are just too many red flags regarding Rosen to trust him at the top of the draft.. I see you guys in this thread have done your best to interpret what Mora actually meant, but what he said spoke volumes. He pretty much confirmed all the rumors regarding Rosen's coachability and commitment to football. And there is no way to disguise the concussions, combined with his lack of mobility and suspect commitment to the game.....how long will he actually play for?
https://thebiglead.com/2018/03/05/j...failing-to-prove-hes-not-the-next-jay-culter/ Based on that report, he continued rubbing people the wrong way during interviews.
I'm always skeptical with the reports. With so many teams doing this, there will be different ways of seeing it, and it's probable that Rosen has connected with some teams better than others. And as always in the NFL draft, no one is a robot or a Madden character, ten teams may think he's a douchebag but if one loves him, he will go there. If that team happens to be at the top, we will be none the wiser. I know that's a lot of words for not much value. I'm genuinely expecting some surprises to come out when the draft actually arrives.
If these stories about his character didn't start a couple of years ago, I might agree with you. But no one starts draft misdirection 2 years ahead of time. I agree it only takes one team to think character or personality will not matter though. Happens every year. I just hope that team is NOT the NYJ. To me, character is everything at the QB position.
I've tried and tried but I can not come up with actual quotes of the question asked and the answer given. Every article has this snippet. Asked in one of his interviews about an interception on his tape, Rosen shot back with another question, asking the interviewer if he’d ever played quarterback before. I would think someone would have the actual quotes if it was as bad as they are alluding to.
From strictly a performance perspective I would say he is. From the perspective of the show and what we were trying to interpret I would say he is as far as Mora, Jeremiah, Brooks and Billick are concerned. However I'm not going around looking to see who says what. At this point I honestly don't care, and really am not interested in what the media says as far how they have these guys rated on the whole. Just discussing what I did see. To me this stuff about Rosen is similar to what some of the naysayers are saying about Mayfield, and are maybe even less concrete, and I don't take the stuff about Mayfield seriously. We're trying to interpret it to try to glean what may happen, not to peg him for what he really is. We don't know that. Nobody on this board does. That will be decided by the teams that actually meet him and spend time with him to make their determination. Sometimes these stories spread like wild fire because all the writers will pass along an original as a source and it starts to become a narrative. We see that all the time with Cimini and these guys. The concussions are real but even 20 years ago prolly not a big talking point. Multiple concussions are part of football and everybody gets them. I'm looking for clues as to what our fate is more than how these guys are rated in the media and here. I've seen Rosen speak several times now and I'm having trouble finding negatives. The thing that strikes me is he's a very bright dude. I'm not gonna interpret that as a negative.
Somebody is priming the pump trying to get Rosen to fall out of the top 10 and into reachable territory. Not sure who. It was Shula in '83 with Marino. I hope whoever it is gets Rosen to the Jets at 3.
I don't think Mac and Bowles are intellectually self confident enough to draft Rosen. Rosen is that guy that will ask "why are we punting here coach?".
That's probably true, and they deserve to be questioned. This is one of the reasons I would love Rosen to be the pick, but I agree Macc might not take him because of what you said (and because of the Fuck Trump hat he wore).
Chris Johnson doesn't like Trump either and he stands by the players in terms of having a voice. He's the complete opposite of Woody.
http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2017/09/chris_johnson_has_complete_control_of_jets_includi.html He's the acting CEO. Woody would need to relinquish that responsibility from Chris Johnson. Woody has no time to worry about the Jets. Chris also, locked arms with the players and is open to players expressing themselves. If this were an issue as some believe, then Chris would not be the acting CEO right now.
