AlexJETS "who the hell is Jim Mora"

That would be Rosens head coach at UCLA.

Yes, Rosen has serious attitude issues. Do NOT draft him in the top 2. Taking him before 3 is unjustifiable.

Yep, saw it. I mentioned it in another thread. The whole show was good in regard to this process. But I took it as a warning also. If Rosen thinks he can get away with not putting everything he has into everything he needs to there will be some serious growing pains for him. Maybe he's not as smart as he thinks he is. If he does we're prolly good. Mora is a bit of a fanatic tho. I didn't know that about him. His teams have a short attention span I would think.
He and Billick were very reserved about Allen too. But Allen the person is easy to like and so are the physical attributes.

It's not a concern, because regardless of what team he goes to, he's the franchise. Teams will find coaches that are compatible with him.

That means he needs a coach that can check his own (coach's) ego. Rosen will not respond to a dictator. He'll need to be able to provide input, be involved with game planning, and allowed to have healthy debate with coaches. Like Mora said, he needs to know why things are done and how it works. He'll also need to be allowed to experiment a bit.

I find it interesting that the supposedly top 4 quarterbacks - Allen, Rosen, Mayfield and Darnold, they are so much criticized for all their flaws , day in and day out discussions about issues such as inaccuracy, size and behavioral tendencies, erratic field play, aloof attitude and snobbish indifference, injury prone history - is it any wonder why we are thinking about drafting these questionable players when we the simple solution is to not draft any of them and just take Chubb or Barkley and not deal with any of this nonsense? I can certainly see any team doing this despite needing a QB and just say they hell with all this and throw in the towel.

The top QBs get scrutinized closely no matter what every year. You’re never going to find a perfect prospect. If you want to wait for a QB crop better than this one you’re gonna be waiting a loong time.

Everyone hates Josh Allen but he will be the next stud QB in the draft.

Don't turn this into another Dan Marino miss.

I guess we didn’t have a Rosen thread. A shitty one is better than nothing I suppose.

Sorry , disagree... Last years top QB's were in no way shape or form as criticized as much as this bunch, hands down no question and Goff and Wentz have proven to be franchise level players, so far. To say we will wait a looong time, com'on so this years is a 'better crop' and last years wasn't ? One year ...so what does a looong time mean, 2 years?? Every year there will always be QB's that will be first round prospects.

Whooooaaa there, that’s a short term memory you’ve got.

Mitch was grilled for being a 1 year starter from a spread offense.

Watson was DESTROYED for throwing 49 MPH at the combine.

Mahomes battled the air raid stigma throughout the entire process.

Kizer’s attitude was criticized as much as Rosen’s.

His own coach referred to him as a typical millennial, indicated he will second guess everything coaches do, and questioned his work ethic and commitment to football.

I haven't seen a HC endorsement that tepid since Carroll 'endorsed' Sanchez.
For me, character at QB is everything.

Throw in the concussions, shoulder tear, inability to win outside of southern Cal.........this guy has more red flags than any QB in this draft.

I'd rather see a guy have a bad pro day than have his own head coach cast shade over his preparation and attitude. You can tell Mora was trying to sugar coat it, but it definitely didn't sound like a ringing endorsement. The part about needed a specific coach doesn't exactly align with our coaching staff's track record.

"If Rosen gives effort, he can be great" - Wouldn't "effort" be a prerequisite for a top 3 selection? You would typically hear "First one in, last one out" etc.

If I'm calling references to hire someone, and a former boss says "he will be great if he gives effort" instead of "he's going to be great there", I'm going to dig deeper.

I'm talking About Goff and Wentz - the others had issues but for example, Watson was still sought after - the combine doesn't mean squat - it's a circus put out there for what reasons - i think to sell popcorn - always go by what they do in games. I knocked Watson because I didn't think he would fit the Jets system and that Mac was looking elsewhere.

And knocking a QB because of the system he was in that 's not nearly as bad as criticizing him for his inaccuracy, his injury past, his off the field issues, his aloofness, his in-decision in the pocket - these are all the traits we see in this year's top tier.

The effort thing is true of every single player entering the NFL. If Mora had said he doesn't give the requisite effort, I'd be concerned. But that isn't what he said. He made an obvious statement that is true of all players.

True. Mora did stand up for him most of the interview regarding the perceived negatives. I think he also meant that he believes Rosen could be truly great if he wants to be and is willing to make the sacrifices
