Watch Cleveland either go QB at 1 and 4 or Barkley 1 and Chubb 4 and throw the draft into complete disarray...
If there's one thing you can count on the Brownies for is disarray and chaos so might as well drag everyone else into it as well I think Tyrod Taylor being there hints that they may actually go Josh Allen 1 since Taylor can hold down the fort for 1 or 2 years with respectable QB play until Allen is ready. Cleveland knows Rosen (wisely) wants nothing to do with them. I don't think Darnold does either. They probably don't want to draft anybody with no intention of suiting up for them if they can't truly convince these kids that they are going in the right direction over the next few weeks. Mayfield has actually said he could be the one to turn them around so Mayfield going 1 to Cleveland is not impossible, though they may avoid it for the (unjust) Manziel comparisons same as we may avoid Allen for the Hackenberg comparisons with completion percentage
If the Bills want to jump up to take Josh Allen, ok be my guest but it's not easily done. The Jets tried for 1 and 2. Those teams aren't budging and have huge needs of their own. Also if they do budge with Buffalo, no doubt the Jets would get in on it as well with an opportunity to beat whatever the Bills are offering.
Given the Jets fans being starved for a FQB, and our lack of patience - well, when you have patience for almost 50 years, maybe patience isn't the right word...maybe massive frustration level - asking Allen to come here and improve the areas he needs to improve is a huge ask. The first time he bounces or skies a throw the fans are going to start freaking, seeing visions of Hackenburg. Is that fair? No, but that's what will happen. And is it fair to put Allen into this situation? I don't think so. Allen would do much better in Buffalo or Cleveland where the media glare isn't as intense. I also think that Darnold doesn't have enough experience, and while LA has a lot of media and attention, it's still not like NY. I really question how he'll handle the weather in NY, and the long-starved fan base that will turn on him if he's not the hero we want him to be? Rosen and Mayfield are the two who seem to have the personality to handle the demands of NY and Jets fans.
With all this bickering over Saquon Barkley I feel like a possible scenario has been overlooked. If QBs are drafted one and two we can threaten to draft Barkley before the Browns and try to force them to flip picks with us. We'd be able to recoup some draft assets (maybe a 3rd and a 5th?), slide down a position, and still get the QB we want. This will need to happen on draft day and will need to be pushed when there isn't a lot of time to think for the Browns while they watch the clock count down. We will never know if we try this gambit and it fails, but I can see this coming off. EDIT: I am assuming, and I suspect I am right here, that the Browns are hoping to get the FQB of their choice and Saquon.
Not happening. Someone else posited this. Cleveland isn't believing that the Jets are gonna take Barkley. Even if they did, why should they trade up? They could just stay put and take Chubb.
I look at it like this: how much difference is there between Barkley and Chubb. Admittedly I am going from bits and pieces, but Barkely is supposed to be a sure fire star (if such a thing exists) while Chubb is quite good. But the Browns NEED success, right? So isn't it worth paying a couple lower round assets to swap with the Jets? Hell, if we got anything it would be a coup. So yes, they might call our bluff, but if they do that and end up with a lesser player to save a couple lower rounds picks their fanbase will go nuts. The greater problem is getting the Browns to believe that the Jets genuinely want Barkley... that's why this needs to be done under pressure to work. Admittedly it is hardly a guaranteed sale, I certainly concede that.
We know the Jets inquired about the 1 and 2 but we really don't know if the pics were not available or just more expensive than Mac was willing to pay. It would be less expensive for the Jets to move up as who ever the Giants are targeting will be available at 3, but at 12 , they will miss out on pretty much their top 10 Players
Allen may be the most ready to start day 1 of all the prospects in this class. It's between him and Rosen.
Could possibly get 2 seconds from them but it would have to be on draft day. Any sooner and they can take him 1. Maybe give Barkley a call as soon as the second pick is in, get them sweating.
He needs more work. He has accuracy issues. Issues making touch throws. Footwork issues. Decision making needs to improve. He seems to be the type who can be baited into picks like Sanchez (though he's not comparable to Sanchez overall) A team could start Allen day 1 but I don't think it would be the best idea.
That is why the Browns will take Barkley 1st and the QB that is left at 4 they would be dumb not to do this.
Oh it hasn't, sure there is a thread on this very subject and if not it was definitely mentioned in one of the threads
Footwork and mechanics are fine. Has experience under center. Goes through his progressions well. Has to learn when there's nothing there , not to force the play. If you watch his games, you will see he very rarely has an open receiver. He is far more ready to play day 1 than Darnold or Mayfield.
Lose all credibility when u say mayfield has unimpressive film. Even people who don't like mayfield wouldn't say that.
