Once you start breaking things down to this level, you are now getting caught up in minor details without looking at a bigger picture. There is always a new system to learn, and you need to have good IQ to do that. There is a difference between becoming a more accurate thrower (that is a huge deficiency and a major obstacle for Allen) and learning intricacies of an offense (3-step drops, etc - not an obstacle at all). He was a walk on twice to new teams with new systems and emerged a starter. He can pass the ball and has ability to learn is not a concern, forget about this "obstacle". Size concern is legit, and that's why I think Baker is rated below guys like Rosen and Darnold, but come on now - he can learn a new system, that is not a concern at all.

Allen??? Too scary for me to go there..NOT NFL READY

Maybe he's a sleeper pick..but if it's him expect Teddy to be playing till he collapses and then McCown to clean up another messy season..ugh...is THIS a Macs Master Plan for getting Teddy AND JM???.,This is a scenario nightmare if there ever was one..sorry

Rosen has a big mouth but so do a lot of people ..if he wins game the owners won't care..they can't be that prejudiced against a Democrat hahahah

Cool. Some NFL QBs go their whole career trying to get their footwork right, but it'll be no problem for this guy. Good to know.

Seriously, I'm fine with picking Baker at #3 if the Jets think that's the right pick--but I hope they look what he's going to have to do to be "the guy" and give him the tools to get there, instead of just assuming he's superman.

    Hope is not a strategy.

HOPEFULLY THIS ARTICLE IS CORRECT & WE HAVE A SHOT AT ROSEN

The "expectation" is that QB prospects Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, and Josh Allen will not be ranked in the Giants' Top 3 when they finalize their board ahead of next month's NFL Draft, reports Paul Schwartz of the NY Post.

Rather, the Giants will likely have RB Saquon Barkley at the top of their Draft board, with OL Quenton Nelson and DE Bradley Chubb rounding out their Top 3 -- though not necessarily in that order -- according to Schwartz

Jets are gonna get the 2nd QB picked, just not sure if it will be Rosen or Allen. If Rosen didn’t come into the league with the injury concerns it would be an easier choice, unfortunately he does though.

We have the 3d pick, which I am afraid means Darnold and Rosen are gone. We will have to take the next best QB, and Baker is it.

It's not just a difference of opinion Woody IS A PART OF THIS PRESIDENTIAL ADMINISTRATION. He's always one of the biggest backers for the Republican party in New York.

Rosen ain't coming here that marriage would be as doomed from the start as Idzik-Rex was.

    college stats =/= NFL stats
    https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/leaders/pass-yds-player-career.html
top NCAA Qbs all time, outside of rivers the top 20 is flat out gross as far as NFL sucess

    completion % =/= accuracy
throwing a 5 yard pass to a wide open WR isn't the same as chucking it deep. system QBs in the spread offense like him, will have a higher completion % but rarely translates well into the NFL

look up any big board out there and show me one that has mayfield in the top 3

lamaar jackson won the hiesman in 2016 and yet people don't mention him and he looks much better on film then mayfield and is a dual threat

i'm not saying it's just his size, there is more to it then that.

Like I said, I have no problem with that. But that doesn't mean we should go into it with blinders on. That goes for whoever we pick.

I agree good College stats is not the same as being successful NFL player. But career passing yards are misleading. Some guys are not in great conferences, some guys have <60% completion (like Lamar Jackson btw), there are INTs, QBRs to consider, some declare early without fully blossoming, etc, etc, ... What we know with Baker is that he has every box checked. Lots of yards, yes, but it's a lot more than that. Won the starting job in the new system as a walk on (twice). Improved every single year. Led the league in QBR (twice). Amazing TD/TO ratio, completion percentage. Viewed by NCAA specialists as top 4 overall over prolonged period of time of 3 years. Best QBR under pressure. Good winning %. Basically everything you can imagine he has, and he has shown it over several years, while improving each time. Of course there are no guarantees, but aside from size this is as top a QB prospect as you can have. You think he is not going #1 overall this year if he is two inches taller?

lol! Fair enough. And its entirely within the possible range of outcomes that you are right.

But I'm a pretty reasonable human being and there is no doubt in my mind the Jets are not drafting Mayfield. I also agree with that. To me Josh Allen has a far higher ceiling and if your reaching for the stars and sacrificing all your 2nd round picks you might as well go for the guy that could be the best.

If the Jets take Allen I'm actually pretty optimistic it'll work out. I also imagine Buffalo just salivating for the chance to get their hands on Allen. I wouldn't be shocked if they trade the Giants a billion picks and smoke him at #2 right before us.

If I'm wrong on draft day I guarantee I'll be right here to take my beating :)

I agree and have thought for weeks now (months actually I guess) that the Giants and the Colts were both just screamingly obvious candidates to trade down.

Edited to add.... and look what a freaking windfall it (apparently) was the for the Colts. NOT ONLY did they get all those valuable 2nd round picks the coup de grace is that they will likely be able to draft whoever they were going to take at #3 anyway. Unbelievable.

Giants are a pretty smart organization. In my mind they must be first and foremost trying to figure out how to get the best trade package out of this that they can.

Jets already did that with Hack. How many gambles on QBs with poor accuracy are we going to take just because they are big and athletic? Let's try something new, like picking someone with actual skill demonstrated at the top College level for once.

no, you talked about how great his stats are, nobody is saying they aren't. but that literally has 0 meaning. look at even any single season college all time list for any stat, and 9 out of 10 will be huge busts in the NFL. Mayfields film if you actually watch it, is about as unimpressive as any. nothing shows NFL QB.
