Classic cover up of the real story. But a lame attempt. Long before Mauldin suffered a back injury he was hot garbage on the field. But you CLAIM it's not Mac's fault because suffered a back injury. You should work for MSNBC. You also conspicuously didn't mention Lee? What's your excuse for him being no better than a 4th rounder at best?
If I hadn't watched every Lee play last year at least twice I wonder who's opinion here I would value?
Ah, so you're a Trump guy. This makes wayyyyyy more sense now. In that case I guess I DO have to really break this down to its simplest form for you to truly understand the words: You said that Mac blew it with Mauldin. He was a 3rd round pick, and he had a very promising rookie year. He was a rotational guy that ended up with 4 sacks and looked every bit a useful pass rusher and that includes damn near becoming paralyzed. In the 3rd round that's what you're looking for, no? A pro football player with the potential to be a starter to really nail the pick. The following year he started off slow and then really trailed off, but anyone with a brain saw that the potential was there. Then this year he sustained a back injury. And considering it would be dumb to label Mauldin a third round bust after a promising first year and down second year, I assumed you meant Mac was at fault for the injury. And that, well that's even dumber. And in regards to Lee, if you didn't see improvement and quite a few flashes, then you're just trying to hate Lee. Maybe I'm missing something here, but when he was drafted, wasn't he widely regarded as a guy that needed some time to develop? I mean... two years in, showing improvement, that seems like signs of development. If he comes out this year and stinks the joint up, then you might have a point. Until then, you're just being a SOJF.
He had a nice rookie season, was looking like he may develop into something and then was injured. Year 2 injured. Came back changed his body and it didnt work out, played worse. All of which has nothing to do with the goofy idea that signing a ver would be a way of covering up the story of Mauldins career not being much up to now.
This is embarrassing. No one is ever to blame for a players injuries, unless he has a history of injury and its ignored. Theres enough legit concern with any young GM, dont make stupid shit up
So glad I'm free of that divisionist TV bullshit. The hate is over the top. It's bad. I think he might be attracted to Lee actually
Yeah, he was better in coverage, made more tackles, was in on more plays, had more sacks, was among the leaders in stuffs, forced two fumbles. Yeah.... he made nice strides last year...
Supposedly, Copeland is just a fill out the roster-type LB and not expected to make the team or really contribute except maybe on STs.
Normally, I'd laugh at the idea of a 36 year-old LB. It IS too old, but Dansby is a freak. He's had a great career, has been a great player, he can still play, and had good stats last year. He's probably still better than Williamson or Lee even at this point of his career.
LOL Are you kidding? He'd bring some old school style to the dance and teach those millenials how get their groove on.
I wish he had fewer. It might have meant he hit them from the front instead of chased them down from behind. It might have meant we stopped them on the first 3rd down of the drive instead of the fourth 3rd down of the drive.
James Harrison says hello .... 36 is old, but it depends on the role intended for him and how well he's taken care of his body and his injury history. I would think this would be little more than a sub role with mentorship duties to the young guys in the LB room. He would be the defensive Josh McCown.
Mauldin started off slow then really trailed off? What the hell does that mean? He SUCKED in 2016 pure and simple. He did a disappearing act and now you go and try and to cover up it up by saying it was an injury? He was GARBAGE and you know it. And YES drafting injury prone players very much does matter. Devin Smith is another shining example of a blown pick. John Idzik drafted Dee Milliner, I suppose you think that isn't his fault also? Lol I have never been anything but objective about every Mac pick. Lee, after two seasons, if the draft were done all over again he would likely be a 4th round pick. He's been a total disappointment and totally atrocious the last 5 games of 2017. He still cannot defend the pass to save his life. He takes the worst angles and routinely gets blown off plays due to his diminutive size. And, NO, it says absolutely nothing in the way of time to develop in his scouting report. Lee's NFL scouting report: Lee's never been short on confidence, proclaiming to teammates that he was the one to take over for 2014 first-round pick Ryan Shazier in the Buckeyes' defense -- even though he was only a year removed from starring as a quarterback and cornerback in high school. He wound up starting all 15 games in that redshirt freshman year for the national champion Buckeyes, earning multiple Freshman All-American accolades with 81 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. Lee truly hit the national stage by terrorizing Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, receiving Defensive MVP honors with seven tackles, three for loss, and two sacks. His play as a sophomore was just as good, tracking down ball carriers 66 times, 11 for a loss and 4.5 sacks on his way to second-team All-Big Ten accolades from league coaches (third team media). ANALYSIS STRENGTHS Quick to diagnose and flow to the ball. Has unusual ability to find the most efficient routes to the ball. Has athleticism and flexibility to contort his body and succeed through difficult tackle angles. Plays with loose hips, quick feet and desired agility of an NFL weak-side linebacker. Former high school quarterback with the change of direction and speed to be a rangy playmaker. Comfortable in space and excels there. Has plus man cover talent. Willing to stand in and take on blockers with a leveraged strike if his gap is being threatened. Capable gap blitzer with ability to get skinny through the holes. WEAKNESSES Smallish linebacker. Play strength doesn't come close to matching puffed up listed weight. Balance issues at point of attack could plague him over his NFL career. Has the body type of a big safety. Tape shows few authoritative tackles. Involved in too many arm and shoestring tackles. Comes flying in and fails to come to balance at times. Charged with 21 missed and five broken tackles over the last two seasons. Always at size disadvantage and will have to learn to slip more blocks. Can get better at finding targets in zone coverage.
