Oh yeah? Bridgewater could go to Mayfields pro day, and make all those throws. You are right, Mayfield looks like Superman to you, compared to old man cripple Teddy Bridgewater. Or you think McCown is the starter and Mayfield his back up in the 2018 season? Saying Mayfield is better than Bridgewater is stupid.
I can see that you own the throne, to the majority's chair, sire. Sorry to piss on your "Wrong QB once again in the draft party." Marshall Faulk made blockers better. Good players make teams better. Not gambles. Stupid drafting. Besides, with the history of the way Mac drafts, do not put this move by him, if he can really see talent. The concept of drafting a QB until you get one, is stupid as fuck. Mac should be let go, if he drafts a QB infront of the next Marshall Faulk. Let him pick the next Mark Sanchez. He will be let go instantly. I think the plan will be to take the next player that elevates the team the most. And it sure isn't one of the QB's. Cleveland will get the one we really want, NY, Buffalo, or anyone else may take the 2nd QB, and we are going to settle on the 3rd best QB, with a potential Marshall Faulk at #3? Mac should be fired right then, for picking a QB. I can't believe I'm the minority here, surely you can see what's the best move for the team? We have completely gutted the team in 2 years. And you people think getting a QB to lead a skeleton team into the future, with him chained to the front of the bus, is the best move. Let another position on the team get strong now, QB isn't the best move for the rebuild, right now. Somebody else, some other time. Which one of these QB's is your guy?
Dude, I don't even know where to begin with this. I'm having trouble finding a single piece of your post that I actually agree with. Rather than be combative or appear disrespectful...i'm just gonna say you & I have vastly different views of how to build a football team.Including where the NFL has been & is going, evaluating college QB's & what the Jets need to turn this around. One thing I will say is we've tried it your way for a long while now. We didn't evaluate/develop the talent very well but this team has continually gone BPA in the draft(outside of Hack) putting a strong emphasis on defense/OL since 2010(OL up until last 2 years). Everything is set up for a young QB to get acclimated to NYC, the offense & being an NFL QB. Meanwhile the FO/CS can evaluate the most ideal personnel to put around the QB heading into 2019. It was time to try something different. If you don't think this team can survive losing 3 2nd rounders over a 2 year span even in the event the QB doesn't work out, the Jets have bigger problems than even we can imagine.
You have no idea if Mayfield could get those throws off so stop projecting like you do. Eli won big games on the road in GB and in SF. That's what championship QB's do. It doesn't mean his arm strength is other worldly. I said Eli had a very good arm. My point remains, Mayfield's arm is plenty strong and accuracy is king.
Really? Based on what? Minus his injuries, you are saying Darnold, Rosen, and Mayfield will all be better than Pennington, with a probable pass up by Allen? Sorry, I ain't buying that as my #3 pick. I gamble on having a stud RB, that has been a JETS fan all his life, that may be Marshall Faulk like. Ray Rice like, but no trouble and loves the game.
You are right, Favre indeed was at 55% - but you had to go back to the class of 1990 to find him! And he was promptly a second round pick and beat the odds. Can Josh Allen do the same? Perhaps - but odds are certainly not in his favor, given we've been able to dig out one QB in recent history (28 years and counting) who completed 55-56% at 21 who became a great starting NFL QB. Let's not get caught up in the BS hype and study each throw while losing track of the big picture. Allen - with all the physical tools he has - was a solid college QB for a D1 school - for a non major conference. He already beat the odds just to get a D1 school. Whether he can beat the odds again at NFL level is much tougher sell, given lack of success of sub 60% completion passers in the League. First round pick - sure, let's gamble. 3d overall - I don't think so.
You draft a QB who becomes your franchise QB I dont care how good a RB Barkley becomes. Jim Brown wont win you as many games as a franchise QB and a productive RB that can be found later in the draft.
We tried it my way, but didn't do it well in the most critical part of drafting, talent evaluation, and it's time to move on from that? Really dude? Gosh, everybody knows a QB in this draft will fix it? Who is your hat hanging on? Darnold? Rosen? I think we can agree to disagree all the time. I'm not the one giving up on rebuild. All the QB nuts are. So you are ok with taking our #3 QB, and letting Cleveland get our #1 QB and the #1 RB? I can't fix stupid.
Yea, ok....... It keeps getting deeper all the QB love. QB goggles everywhere. its as likely as one of these QB's being a Manning, Eli even.
So we draft Barkley and hope for the best with Bridgewater? And if Teddy two gloves isn't what he was before his knee split, then what?
Mac TRIED to move up to one or two had calls out to both the Browns and Giants...THEY BOTH SAID NO So after we draft Barkley do you think Bridgewater or McCown will earn a 5 year extension LMAO I like Teddy ..but NO ONE else was interested in him..hmmm Maybe we sign Brees or Wilson or Big Ben or Rivers next year??? So what if they on the way out ..they were the BPAS at the time they were drafted and certainly all of them are better than Capt Kirk
Yes..we need to move on from ignoring the most important position on the field & the most important aspect of a team in the modern NFL-The passing game. Every bad team takes a shot eventually. Many of them have to trade up to do it. This is a QB rich draft...yeah...I like all 4 QB's. Sure..none is a sure thing...but none of their upside is below that of a franchise QB either. The fact that they're going to sit for a year further entices me.I'd like to see a real offense built for the long haul. The team is in desperate need of a leader on that side of the ball..the type of leader that can only come in a form of a QB. I'm not worried in the least about passing on Barkely. Feature backs are a thing of the past. RB's are no longer built to endure 25-30 carries a game for 16+ weeks..and they are no longer conditioned to do so by teams due to the Cba TC restrictions. Beyond that it's an extremely rich RB class just as well. I can get a very good RB prospect in the 3rd round, possibly later.
So you know what all the QBs will become TODAY? And Barkley? Do you also see dead people? Theres a reason why people have QB love. Theres a reason why QBs are the highest paid, most important player on the field. By far, not close. Reggie Bush says hi...
Mayfields on his worst day is better than Bridgewater Bridgewaters wounded ducks are pathetic compared to Mayfields strong and accurate arm This QB class, all four of them have extremely high upsides. If you don't see that and want to bet the farm on Checkdown Teddy...I don't know what else to tell you. You have no clue how to evaluate talent
The argument sounds a bit forced. You can put down anyone by saying they are playing against bad defense, favorable offense, etc... This sounds like excuses not real argument. In Mayfield you are talking about a guy who has been top 4 College player for 3 years now, not just last year, when he was voted #1. What's encouraging is that he was able to improve every year. While he is about to turn 23 he has been top 4 College player and putting up numbers way better than Josh Allen in a tougher conference since he was 20 years old. If he is two inches taller while producing exactly the same things, at 6-3, he is consensus #1, and it's not even close. He probably declares two years ago and still goes top 5. At 6-1 (or 6-5/8 to be exact) with the production he had over last 3 years, I think his College career alone - 3 years in a row as top 4 in Heisman - makes him top 10 guy. I concede #3 may be a reach, but still to get a top 10 overall talent in a draft at QB position is pretty good. If Rosen and Darnold are there at 3, sure they are 2 years younger, also premier College players in top conferences, have better size, let's go for it. But if they are off the board, Mayfield is a pretty darn good consolation prize.
I said best QB since Pennington, which isn't the same thing as better than Pennington. Though I hope our guy will be better than Pennington. And RBs can be busts too, see Trent Richardson.
