I had some lazy, floating flurries until a few minutes ago. It just started coming down with some purpose, and is sticking a little bit. (For info: I'm a few miles away from MetLife Stadium)
just saw a cam in NYC....lol...forget it...its not even sticking yet and snowing for 3 hours. Forget that 20 for manhattan, it just cant happen. All numbers will be affected with that. Gut feeling from the beginning...so lets see.
NOW GUYS...THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT...sorry about the caps but saving time answering questions later. Below is a short term model and it really needs to be discussed for snow totals: Ok...still huge numbers for NYC on east right? But the numbers in NJ are down...why is that? Because according to the models the snow has fallen already. And it has...but not sticking as much..yet. This really needs to be watched today because if its noon today...and NYC has a few slushy inches, it will not hit THESE numbers. Again...later March. I could be wrong...but that's it in a nutshell. According to this map and every other map, the snow has fallen to where they predicted...it just has not stuck. So lets see what happens in the next 4 hours. If Manhattan has 3 or 4" of snow..still big numbers..if its a slush mess? It isn't happening.
Assuming 10-1 is a tough assumption today no? Numbers should stay down as the ratio stays down yes? Think we should operate under an 8-1 ratio this late in the year. Btw, it’s cold and windy in northern Dutchess but no snow and I don’t think much if any is reaching here. Could see 6 at home 20 miles south.
I would say your ratios are dead on...but I don't think even that can overcome sun angle this time of the year..it has to to pour snow, which it will. Just don't think the huge numbers can be reached UNLESS radar is green, for a long long time. I looked at models first this morning and saw huge numbers...but the models cant digest time of year. Again, high numbers can be hit..but it needs a base to stick. Once that base takes hold, it will pile up. Too late for bigger numbers? Not sure but it will be tough.
guys stop the nonsense with teh 20 inches...hahah it aint happenin......move on and get ready to hide eggs and wear your bonnets to brunch
Snow sticking in Manhattan...let the number begin to build. New numbers coming in from Newtown, CT. 50-70" prediction. Somebody tell JONNNYD!
It will happen somewhere Jon my friend...so lets see...but still sticking with 10-14 for you...foot is the over under right? Lets see my man.
Because sticking has begun...the NWS brought their numbers down a bit for the city...8-12. Now we will watch them all day begin to creep those numbers back up to over a foot...to 15.
Jay I think the temps WILL fall they have in a few places,,,Im at 32 right now,,,,,I think if it gets below freezing it sticks everywhere even Manhattan but we will have to see. No snow here yet just a few flurries but this thing is gonna crawl so no worries YET. PS my buddy drove from South Jersey to NYC and he said it was coming down/ huge flakes / hard to see and was sticking---now back to our program
Jay and others IT IS sticking in Manhattan right now,,,,it is NOT snowing by me yet but I am not thinking bust and I am thinking more bomb!!!! This will crawl,,,,,and I think it will stick in daylight hours as it is now and if the heavier stuff holds off until later or tonight that would help accumulations----I still think this is gonna bomb---the low appears to have closed off and Im looking at radar to our South and it looks good,,,thoughts ?
