I could be wrong, but Macc moving up to #3 after going hard at Cousins has made me change my opinion of him. I still wonder if he's the right guy, but these actions on his part make me wonder if he's had a plan and been sticking to it. I complained that he passed on two good FQB prospects last year, and took two Safeties rather than filling a different position of need. I still think those were wrong moves, but if he was really looking ahead to this draft, and the knowledge that Cousins would likely become a FA, as answers to the QB Problem, then I can't crucify him - disagree, sure, but if he has a plan and is working on it that's all I can expect. And I DO think he was planing on taking his QB this year, and when Cousins passed, he went full speed on Plan B, which I commend. He seems to be holding fast to his stated philosophy of trying to acquire his "blue chips" in the draft, and to fill in around them with FA. And while I disagree with his focus on "D" for his prime picks, he IS holding to his philosophy...hopefully he'll now turn towards "O" finally. With all that said, he's going to take a QB, but I honestly don't know who. I hope it's Rosen who I believe is a potential P. Manning...if he can stay healthy. If not Rosen, then Mayfield, who has every trait you want in a FQB except he doesn't have "ideal" height, but I believe this won't be an issue. Darnold would be my third choice because he checks all the physical boxes, and has a winner's mindset, but his throwing motion is elongated - I don't know if that will be a problem, or if he can really change it, but it's funky; I think he'll need some work, but I also think he has the metal and physical ability to succeed. At first I was adamantly opposed to Allen, but posters here have made me rethink that, and now I would be okay with him, although not thrilled - I would be holding my breath until he proved he can really adjust to the speed of the pro game. So that's my 2 cents...for now.
I think the only reason Mac made the trade was so he'd never have to make a pick in the second round again; since he's so unbelievably god-awful at it.
Is Maye a bust already, who knew ? The Jets have been historically bad at them. no doubt about it, this will be Mac's third draft and 2nd with his own scouting team in place, bit to early for god awful, imo of course
There are only 3 players worthy of a top pick, and by trading up Macc is guaranteed to land one of them: Darnold, Rosen, or Barkley. If both QBs are gone, he will take Barkley. In this scenario Macc made trade back slightly to re-coop picks if he can still get Barkley. I dont think Macc takes a flyer on yet another project QB prospect over a franchise difference maker like Barkely.
Maye isn't a bust, but I wouldn't take a victory lap for getting one second-round pick right when you've also got Devin Smith and Hackenberg on your resume.
You can't keep pinning Devon Smith on his resume either, guy had no injury issues in his college career and then broke down as a pro, just how the fuck can you blame the GM for that ? Hack I can understand but Smith is wrong. So we now have 1 good 1 bad and 1 unlucky for his 2nd round picks, so how is this translating as woefully god awful all of a sudden ? Nothing to do with waving victory flags but telling it straight.
I have no idea what fyp means lol but I did notice that my fat fingers had typed mayfiled lol if that is what you meant ?
But it is okay to throw a sly dig in yourself I see Maybe it is the attitudes of the People that disparage the other posters choice of qb be it Allen, Mayfield, Rosen or Darnald. When people dismiss out of hand anothers choice as shit, then flames begin to rise.
I think some people can't separate their fandom and personal desires from logical observation of what the Jets are doing. I for one hope the QB falls to 3, but I agree with your assessment entirely, it's the logical observation of things looking at the timing of the trade and our FA moves.
I am becoming more and more convinced that the Giants are going to take the best player available, and apparently they do not think it is one of the three QBs. Giants are very rigid in their draft beliefs, apparently. I fthey think they can get one of their top players at 5, they may do something with Denver.
Indeed but when has fandom become a disparaging term ? I wanted Barkley in the draft, hoping he was going to fall to 6, that was likely to be a stretch but going to 3 pretty much means it is a qb we are going for, so I then had to go and look at the 4 of them a bit more, they all have faults and all have good traits, I plumped for Mayfield as I am 5ft 6" it pisses me off that you have to be a giant or your nothing to some people, I don't really care for the tests that happens for these players, it is all a bit Hitler's youth, you can't be a good qb and under 6ft and then ignore Wilson, Brees etc. But it is the irrational way some people would disagree, one poster proclaimed Mayfield as talentless, this is the same qb who has been the highest rated college QB 3 out of the last 5 years, so clearly not talentless at all. Rosen is likely to make a top qb but his longevity is in question, concussion concerns can't be ignored, we need this FQB for 10 years minimum. Allen big arm, accuracy called into question. Darnald I watched two whole games of hus and he got sacked like Geno running backwords making it a huge loss and he was very inaccurate, so it put me off as he was meant to be great, a little bit irrational but it can't be helped. You want one of two qbs to fall to 3 Allen and Mayfield need not apply and that shows your own personal desires and lack of observational logic also.
