I think Mayfield can be a really special QB in the NFL....with a team that builds their system around him. I don't think the Jets would do that. I wish they would, but they seem to be going for the traditional type of offense, not bleeding edge. I think Mayfield could do okay in that type of offense too, but Bowles and Gates will try to fit the square peg into a round hole rather than adapt to Mayfield's strengths and weaknesses.
i wouldn't say special. he's ceiling is a game manager that can do ok in the right system. at best he's alex smith. at worst he's johnny manziel
everyone is entitled to their opinion, but i see nothing of him worth the #3 overall pick nor do i see him being a successful QB
Not to say that the Jets would be open to it but what are the odds that some other team offers us more than we paid on draft day if the top guy on their boards.
Depends on how far down we would have to move. If I am Mikey Mac, I am not moving out of the Top 5. I would listen to the Broncos at #5 though if Darnold goes 1 and say Nelson or Barkley go 2. But then you run the risk of switching with the Broncos, they take a QB at 3, then the Browns trade their pick at 4 to say the Bills, and they take a QB. Then we are left with Allen and I go to my nearest bridge and jump. The Browns would have to pinky promise to not trade out of 4
If we draft him, I am hoping for Teddy to blow our socks off and we resign him to a 7 year 100 million guaranteed deal. QB's that throw for less than 60% completion rate, rarely if ever do well in the NFL. And that is against Mountain West opponents. No thanks.
None, we would not only have to get more than we gave up, we would have to recoup what we gave up AND what we could’ve gotten from moving down from 6. Jets are picking their favorite QB left at 3. The sooner the people against it accept that the sooner they can get over it.
Some of us will never get over it. If we use #3 on a non-QB I may never stop laughing at those who are drooling over the QBs.
Your basement is correct but your ceiling is wrong. I see his best case scenario being a Favre type guy. A heart attack to watch but always in and around the championship picture. I would take that with a Lombardy any day. But yeah the flip side is 100% Manziel and that scares me.
