It wouldn't surprise me if the Jets were at the root of all those rumors as part of their disinformation campaign so that nobody knows who they want. They definitely had a plan. If anyone doubts that, they need to read the Albert Breer article in SI that has been quoted several times in different threads. Whether their plan works depends upon Mac taking the right QB, but so far the plan is sound, and has been executed well. It will be interesting to see what happens. One thing I'm sure of...the Jets didn't trade up to #3 to take Jackson.
The Jets aren't taking Barkely. That's just ridiculous! You don't trade 3-2nd round picks to move up to take a damn RB!!!! You guys are ridiculous! It's like you know nothing about the NFL. You're just projecting what you'd do or what you want the Jets to do. Thank God you guys aren't the Jets' GM. If Mac does take Barkley at #3, he should be immediately fired and not even allowed to finish the draft. I guarantee you that if he does that, he'll never work in the NFL again in any kind of management position. He might work as a scout or janitor, but his days as part of the "braintrust" of a team will be over.
I'm not using what these guys can do for another team, it doesn't matter. All 32 NFL teams are in different situations. The NY JETS team now moving forward, doesn't look good for a rookie, over hyped, QB. A project, a system guy, an injury prone, and a turnover machine, which one do want to spend 3 2nd round picks and the 6th overall pick to get when our roster is so full of holes? Bates can't be so sure he has spotted his guy to be named face of the franchise. He is a rookie OC. He may not be here in 2 years. I really think it's going to be a shock to everyone, when Todd gets his way and goes "Best player in the draft" with Barkley at 3 if he makes it." None of these QB's were good enough to separate themselves from the so called pack. They all have big problems headed into the NFL. Don't be suprized if Barkley is available, that the JETS get him on draft day. Just saying.
This place has become brutal. I fully understand negativity, but most of this just sounds like trolling. I think the plan is super obvious. Its the same mindset I've had for the first three picks for months. 1. The Jets think Cleveland is drafting a QB at 1. 2. The Jets think the Giants are more than likely drafting a QB at 2. 3. The Jets like three QBs 4. By moving to the third pick, the Jets are guaranteed one of the top 3 QBs. Nobody can jump them now. If the Giants take Barkley, the Jets have a shot at Rosen or Darnold. If not, they are perfectly happy with Mayfield/Allen. I mean, this all seems perfectly obvious to me.
Just throwing what I hear out there. Some I definitely think are ridiculous and others are personal opionion. In the grand scheme I think they are hoping for Rosen with Darnold going one and Barkely two. But things change and you never know. I can say this. The Jets have a plan and Florio is wrong. It'll be a fun month and many more pundits will add to the intrigue.
That would be signing Macc's death warrant. Macc cannot go in any other direction other than Qb at 3 because he's staked his job on it. He also only has McCown and Bridge on one year deals with Hack and Petty in reserve. Only an idiot would stake his job on a crew made up like that after going thru so much trouble to trade up. Macc drafts Barkley and his career as a GM is finished. Especially if he lets himself get strong armed into doing it by Bowles. Maybe Bates channels his inner Phil Jackson and goes on a sabbatical again after a year or two. We don't know.Bates is a roll of the dice at OC... maybe he works out, maybe he doesn't. Again, no real reason to project our doubts and concerns onto a guy just coming into the job. We all had to start somewhere at some point. Do I have faith in Bowles to hire the right guy as OC? Not really but the only thing we can do about it is hope for the best.... and prep for the worst if it doesn't work out.
So I don't think you managed to mentally comprehend what I said. Let me try again. It's entirely possible the Jets traded up to 3 thinking they want Rosen. But they must also realize it's possible the first 2 picks could be Darnold and Rosen. In which case that means Saquon falls, who the Browns are likely to take at 4, and is arguably the best player in the draft. It's not often you see a move like this so far out from the draft. Meaning, the Jets may have just done some simple math and knew they would be guaranteed a guy they want, positioned directly in front of the team that can take either depending on how pick 1 and 2 goes. This is not really that much of a stretch. It's basic contingency planning. If the Jets traded up for one specific person that would be silly considering we have no idea who will go 1 and 2. So yes this 2 path scenario exists. In the scenario where Rosen goes 2 for example (assuming Rosen is the guy they are targeting) and Saquon is there, it means take Saquon and trade back into the mid to late first/early second for a QB. In fact, it's quite brilliant if you ask me. So what I'm saying is, it's likely we take a QB there, but it is not necessarily a lock. It's almost as if you know nothing about the NFL.
It makes no sense for Mac to take Barkley because that would force him to win this season to keep his job no matter what Chris says about no playoff mandate. OTOH if he takes a QB, he's safe as long as the QB looks promising.
You are wrong QB guru! Bad wrong. You don't take the 3rd running back on your list after giving up so much to get there. They will be taking the best "Football player" something you know nothing about. It totally asinine to come off as you do when you are clearly not an NFL QB coach. You may believe you are, but it's obvious you don't. Your Hack plan proves that. Hahaha If the JETS take Barkley it will be damn good for our offense. Now, and in the future. If we take one of these QB's because we can't be a franchise "without a FQB", it will be the firing of Mac, Bowles, and Bates. Such a dumb, backwards, Madden type approach to football in the real world. You promise you will quit being a JETS fan if the draft Barkley? Pinky promise?
The funny thing is 2 of the 4 haven't even had their pro days yet so who know what the Jets think about any of them. I think they know without question they will pick a qb and they are positive that one of 4 will still be there. They would have liked to move to 1 or 2 but the cost was too high. At that point they would have had a clear choice by draft day.
[QUOTE} it's quite brilliant if you ask me.[/QUOTE] ROFLMAO!!!! Unbelievable. Dude, I totally comprehended the nonsense you posted, and it is total nonsense. Mac is NOT taking Barkley at #3. His job depends upon finding a FQB. He's not rolling the dice on a project like Jackson or Rudolph. If he only likes Rosen, he isn't trading up to #3 and then settling for Barkley. That's just stupid. He has to get a true FQB prospect in the draft. The top 4 guys have enough questions and flaws. He certainly isn't going to go with a QB who has even more questions and flaws. Thank God there's only a handful of you delusional posters who think it would be a great idea to draft Barkley. He wouldn't have traded up to #3 if he didn't like at least 3 of the top 4 QBs

You have no freaking clue. None of us do. It's all speculation. Mine is based in some general logic, yours is based on fan hyperbole. It's fine. In fact your notion that we traded up because we like 3 of the 4 and will just let other teams determine who our QB is, is probably the most ridiculous Madden-esque nonsense I've ever heard. Listen to yourself. The scenario I posed is far more feasible than anything you have managed to utter thus far.
this. again I am not saying I think we are DEFINITELY DRAFTING BARKLEY. I'm saying given the timing of the Jets moves, it kind of lends to basic logic it's a possibility. And if we do take Barkley I think we jump back into the late first early second for a QB.
good luck dealing with him. he'll start to insult you and make lies about stuff then block you. he claimed he never said mayfield was a 2nd round pick, i posted a screenshot of him saying that then he blocked me LMAO
I agree, except Saquon stays. We play next season as another question mark. Even if we get a QB, our season isn't affected. He is gonna wear a baseball cap. Saquon puts asses in the seats, scores TD's and would have helped the JETS offense to move forward another year. He is the best playmaker in the draft. Playmakers don't come often. Just like the Peyton Mannings of the world. Barkley helps who ever the QB is in NY. Now and until his career is over. To say his selection is stupid, is irrational moving forward. You don't move up to get your 3rd pick of questionable QB's. You move up to help the team, offense mainly, to 3 at such a high cost.
