Take it for what it's worth. Mehta today wrote about how the Jets wanted to use McKinnon in certain ways because of his versatility and the fact he was an option qb in college. I wonder if the Jets signed Pryor they'd use him like Brad Smith back in the day. Be a nice wrinkle and not a bad idea. That being said the last few years he has solely been a wr and probably just wants to do that at this point. For the right price I think he'd be a good addition to our wr core especially if Anderson is suspended for a game or two. Adds size could be a red zone threat. Be a good pick up for us.
I retract my statement from earlier. I guess on a 1 year, prove it deal he wouldn't be bad at all to bring in.
Like him as a short area WR/STer as others have already suggested..however at 30 years old I'm not so sure he's worth it.
Sign him. Our 1 WR is coming off major surgery. The other can't stop picking fights with the police. Receiver is the 3rd biggest need on the roster, outside of offensive line and QB and it has been ignored so far
I don't think he makes it out of Seattle. Makes too much sense for him unless they are offering peanuts. He can be the second receiving option behind Baldwin and play on a team that can still compete (even with their deflated defense).
Got no problem with him playing for us since Anderson is being suspended and Quincy is just coming back. Would be a good pickup. My guess is we will just have to pay a little more than whatever pittance Seattle is offering.
I just think by the time this team is ready to contend & could use a guy like him he'll be long gone due to injury/retirement or a cap casualty due to his age. Alot of these guys are immediately thinking retirement at age 28-30 once a moderate injury strikes..Maybe he's different. I'm not opposed to him but I'd make sure he's on board w. a definitive role for at least 3 years.
Like the sentiment of most on this thread, I think a 1 year deal is worth it. He was injured last year, and he's got a shitty route tree. That said, if you just throw it up, this guy can come down with it. With the loss of ASJ, this signing could make a lot of sense.
Kearse needs targets, Enunwa needs targets and we certainly have to see what we have in Stewart and Hansen or why bother drafting them......you see where Im going with this riiiiigh?
The Jets have to do something to help the WR corp, if Pryor is the best solution at this point, for the low end money on a 1 year deal... so be it. 2019 FA market has to produce a better signing for Jets with an improved QB depth chart compared to what we had to offer WR's in the FA this year(Petty/Hack was our QB depth at the time). Depth chart looks like: Enunwa- Hanson- Peake Anderson- D. Smith- Stewart Kearse- Marshall- Estime/Natson Pryor replacing or falling in behind Anderson on the depth chart will help the team
I'd like to see a short area guy who can move the chains & maybe break a few long one's.. Maybe Stewart is that guy but hard to tell. That's not even to say he might not be good...he might be good but be a bit more of a downfield threat. Hard to say at this stage.
If Maccagnan gets a 2nd Round Pick for an UDFA with non-stop off the field issues like Anderson, that would be epic! Pryor was terrible in DC last year, but wasn't he the WR who had 100 yards on Revis in the 1st Half of a game? Could be worth a shot.
Who knows? Maybe Devon Smith beasts this year. LOL Seriously, Pryor wouldn't be a bad add, but I agree with johnnyd that we need to see what Stewart and Hansen bring to the table. They need to be given every opportunity to develop. That said, I wouldn't be upset if the Jets did sign Pryor.
haha...no Maybe he will now though, he was abysmal in Cleveland at blocking. However, the guy is a converted QB, maybe he learned!
Yeah, I know that he was a QB once upon a time. Just hoped that maybe he had bought into being a WR/TE, would block a little, and maybe we could play him at TE.
Wishful thinking! I meant he could take ASJ's RZ targets. Worth a flier, he made 6 mil last year, I bet he could be snagged around 4 this year.
