Darnold, Rosen, and Mayfield are the franchise QBs in this draft.

Jackson and Allen have franchise talent, but need a LOT of work (Allen especially). The Jets aren't equipped with the time or personnel to support more QB projects.

If they end up with Josh Allen at the expense of three second round picks, the Jets training facility should be burnt to the ground and the team moved to Canada.

I really like this trade, but what has me worried is having two one-year rentals at QB then making this move. Which QB of the bunch is the one widely regarded as the one that will need to be developed and sit a year? That’s right...

If the Jets went up to the 3 with the idea of flipping it if they didn't get their top 2, it is way too risky. While you could be right, I sure as hell hope this isn't the case.

    No chance it's Barkley.
You don't use 4 premium picks for a RB. No matter how good they may be, the difference in production is negligible between top backs and 2nd tier.
It's going to be a QB or we will have a new GM before camp opens.

Jets trading up to 3 pretty much smack downs the fanboys high hopes for Bridgewater or Lamar Jackson. Jets are getting a real QB in 2018. Not some limited or gimmick/garbage/WR QB. Happy with this move. Elated even

Why wouldn't he ask for the stars?

    Why wouldn't we pay him?

Becasue we have Sanchez 2.0 and we're the SOJ?

No, this isn't true at all. Buffalo trades in to top 4 and Denver swaps with Indy - done. All 4 QBs gone. It's really that simple. Why wait to grab who may fall to you, risking your job basically, instead of trying to get one of the two guys that will have to be sitting at 3. Darnold is going to Cleveland from what everyone is saying. Buffalo was trying to get to 3 - still may go to 2, you never know. But we are guaranteed either Mayfield, Rosen or Allen.

What is the most valuable commodity in the NFL? It's a franchise caliber QB on a rookie contract. You have to take the risk, understanding just like the Colts did, that it costs extra to trade up when the target is a QB.

McCown is going to retire soon. Having Bridgewater on the team is a smart play for the Jets in that they can evaluate him for a future role as backup, assuming he doesn't outright win the job, set the world on fire, and earn himself a ton of money in the future.

The Eagles showed this year the value of having a quality backup QB. The Jets are attempting to find that answer with Bridgewater.

We tag and trade him for a first and third next year.
That would be best case scenario,

I have to think that Bowles will go with the rookie on day 1 if he outplays McCown and Bridgewater in training camp and the preseason. Last year, neither Petty nor Hack showed that they should start over McCown.

Yep, Mac is going to pin his hopes on a QB that essentially hasn't played in 2 years after suffering a gruesome injury and a 39 year old QB. He's showing he's too smart to do that. Bridgewater will hopefully play this year and do well so we can recoup some of our 2nd rounders next year.

The Browns have an interesting decision to make now. If they want Barkley bad enough, they have to take him at #1 overall. Otherwise, the Giants will get him. If that happens, Darnold could fall to the Jets. If the Browns take Darnold, the Giants could take Barkley, leaving Rosen to the Jets (which I expect to happen). The Browns could be tipped off that the Giants or a team they trade with is taking a QB. If so, they can wait until #4 to draft Barkley.

If the Giants are NOT drafting a QB, could the Jets be in play to trade up to #2? They likely can offer the most since a package would include the #3 pick. It is going to be an exciting month!

The Jets trading up to 3 strongly suggests that they aren't particularly high on at least one of the top 4.

Between now and draft day the Jets will be linked to all 4 by various reports. That doesn't mean they want all of them.

I have posted that twice already. Adding BOTH McNown AND Bridgewater was stupid.

    That's your solution to the
That's your solution to what in essence would be the youngest most talented QB on our roster since Pennington?..

The other thread suggests the one of the four they don't like is Mayfield...which means we could really screw up and whiff with Allen.

I think Mac deserves credit for the Richardson trade last year. He got a solid starting WR in Kearse and a 2nd round pick which will now partly pay for a franchise QB. That's good stuff no matter how much people hate on Mac.
