Exactly....lol. Everyone is trying to win a super bowl next year instead of FINALLY trying to find a franchise QB for the next 15 years. Wake up guys, we weren't winning next year with a good offseason this year. Mac handled this offseason the right way. No long term silly contracts that will hamstring the franchise just because we had the cap space. Add a few pieces to field a competitive team and build for the future by landing your franchise QB in a year that has a few potential franchise QBs. Can't please this fanbase
It's cheaper now than it will be on draft day. The bills have got to give a lot more than we have to get a qb now. Browns will be shopping #4 now and the Broncos will be shitting themselves. If we didn't do this move I'm sure there would be a 20% chance we get the guy we want Sent from my SM-G610Y using Tapatalk
This is what irks me about fans. IF you like the trade... fine. We all hope for the best for our Jets. But to act like this is a no brainer win and call fans who oppose it dumb only makes you look dumb. Let me explain my point another way. Say you LOVE Baker Mayfield. He's your guy. And you'd settle for Darnold. (Or any permutation for that matter). BOTH could literally still be gone when you pick. I find it hard to believe Plan C is worth it in this draft. Thats all Im saying. Am I delusional for not thinking this is the 2004 draft?
Exactly, if you think future second round draft choices don't have value because of past failures then you shouldn't be in this business.
Just would have liked to keep one of those 2nd. That's a high valued pick. Do you have a crystal ball genius and think that 1st round pick the Jets are gonna make next month will be a FQB? Richardson was pro bowl player. How many of those did we have last year?
YESSSSSS!!!! This smells like a play for Josh Rosen...but either way we are GUARRANTEED one of the big 3 Mac you have done some stupid sh*t with your deals BUT THIS MAKES UP FOR IT BIG TIME And like a handful of us said ...would not cost THAT much WTG MAC Getting that important but lately much neglected QB!!!!!!!!!!!
If it's not for mayfield, Rosen or darnold, I've lost all faith in this regime. That haul for anything but a qb would be terrible.
I’m normally against tradeups. But go back and tell me who won the Goff & Wentz tradeups and both the Rams and Eagles will tell you how ecstatic they are with those deals. If you don’t die trying to get a franchise quarterback you can sit in the mediocrity of Josh McCown’s and Ryan Fitzpatrick’s for eternity. You think the Rams and Eagles wished they played moneyball and stockpiled picks like the Browns have tried to do?
I was thinking the same thing. The only reason is that they decided they were going to take one of the three top QB’s, regardless of which it is, and thus ensures they are able to do so. And if Cleveland doesn’t take a QB at one we then have our pick of the top two if the Giants do, or vice versa. We could even be the first to take a QB if Browns go Barkley (they should) and Giants OL (they have a huge need for it).
And again I wasn't completely opposed to that either, I liked Chubb and the guard...but if you're going to get the QB via the draft you had to do it this year. Much harder to do it in FA or via trade later on unless the Jets tank again this year and get another high pick - and that's not the plan based on all the FA dollars they're spending - but I have no idea what the 2019 QB prospects are.
Julio Jones trade Julio Jones was the # 6 overall pick (Could Calvin Ridley be the next Jones?) The Falcons gave the Browns: First (pick 21), second, and fourth in that draft plus a first and fouth in the following draft for Jones 1. NT Phil Taylor, 21st overall, 2011 2. WR Greg Little, 59th overall, 2011 3. RB Owen Marecic, 124th overall, 2011: 4. QB Brandon Weeden, 22nd overall, 2012 5. RB Trent Richardson, 3rd overall, 2012(Cleveland used the fourth-round pick from Atlanta to move up one spot and select Richardson)
The Jets must think so. Yep. Supply and demand. If the Browns and Giants do take QB's, no doubt someone else was moving to 3 (Bills/Cardinals), Broncos could take a QB at 5, another team could have traded with the Browns for #4, and the Jets are left with nothing at #6. This is what I wanted though. The Jets to have enough interest to make a move like this. I have seen some crazy trade ups in the past. This isn't too bad. Especially for a franchise QB.
Deshaun Watson looked pretty good prior to tearing his ACL, Carson wentz, and I happen to think, although not for certain, Patrick Mahomes is going to light it up in KC. We couldn’t wait and hope we would land our QB at 6 and Macc needed to trade up. Now let’s see who he picks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
