We've seen much worse overpayments to move up. No future first round picks given up, can't complain. I think Mac did good here. Hopefully whoever they draft works out well.
I don't find it hard to believe at all. The writing was on the wall the ENTIRE season / off-season. Mac visits Darnold and Rosen throughout the year. Evaluated Mayfield in the off-season and believed he can be the guy also. There's your big 3.
The silver lining here is that either this gamble pays off or everyone gets fired. The latter could be the best thing to happen for us. When Rich Kotite was fired we rose like a Phoenix from the Ashes with the Parcells regime.
Exactly. The Jets fans insulting this trade are clueless. Mac did what I (and many other fans) wanted: Take that risk. Go big instead of going home like usual. If the QB becomes the face of the franchise for a couple 2nd round picks, it is the best trade in Jets history. I love it.
I get that but I don't know man. 3 2nds and you might still end up with the 3rd best QB on your board. What if the Browns and Giants take a QB. What if the Giants trade the pick to a team who needs a QB. I cant imagine there's at least 3 QBs worth 3 2nds on our board that wouldn't be available at 6. I know with everything it is a wait and see type approach but damn. I'm not feeling this move. Sorry
Baby steps Mo... Macc went way outside his comfort zone for a move this important so lets hope he gets the QB pick right. We still have a ton of cap cash and all our later picks so perhaps he can still find a player or two for the OL.
If Barkley and Chubb are on the board at # 3 we could work over Cleveland for picks and still get one of them at # 4.
It's either Rosen or Baker here. I have a man love for Baker but Id love Rosen as well...It's a no brainer to move up when you need a franchise QB and Mac feels they can get 1. Why the bitching?
Mac has found the old Jets blue prints and is following the script that has worked so well for us in the past.
We got completely ripped off according to the PVC, giving up 2540 points for 2200 just this year alone - and that’s before accounting for next year’s second rounder, which could very likely be high as well. Jets basically traded the pick the 49ers gave up for Jimmy, plus the #6 pick and two seconds, just to move up 3 spots. Instead of just being patient, seeing whether one of the QBs they liked fell to 6, and if not going with Barkley or Chubb—two studs at positions of massive need—and not even guaranteeing the QB you want is going to be there anyway.
Yeah it was awesome when we did that with the Sanchize Half these moves work and half are disasters I just thought you could have your cake and eat it too if you didn't get desperate and move up...
