If he's their nickel back he's gonna be on the field the majority of the time. You need three starting-caliber CBs
He turned down a cut from 14M..he isn't going to be a nickel back or a part time safety and unless they all of a sudden aren't happy with the two guys they drafted last year he probably won't be a Jet..although Gaggy makes all kinds of bad decisions when it comes to DBs.
For people saying honey badger has no place on the jets, the jets used 3 safety looks last year. Also, Skrine was detting DPI's non stop last year. This is a move the jets have to make IMO.
The two guys they drafted last year were 6th and 7th round picks who barely played. You can't factor them into their acquisition of a nickel back. If they develop and look good, they'll get time down the line. Let's see what kind of money he's looking for, but he has a lot of good connections to this team
He was due $5.75mil in base salary & a $5mil roster bonus this year. Keeping him would have also kicked in an $8mil guarantee for next season.
I think the price would be too high for a safety/nickle back when we already have 2 young safeties and just signed a 15 million dollar corner.
Tweet from NYJDynasty "Mo Claiborne, Rashard Robinson, and Jamal Adams all played with Tyrann Mathieu at LSU. Todd Bowles was his DC in Arizona. Bowles’ stepdaughter has a child with him... Bowles loves LB hybrids and three safety sets. Tyrann can also save us $6M by playing slot (cut Skrine)" I agree wholeheartedly Mathieu would be amazing here
Yeah, Bowles should be able to get the Badger on the field without question. Would absolutely love to see him and Adams leading our defense.
Honey badger can play. Bring em in, I’m all for it. Cut skrine and have him as the slot corner or hybrid safety/linebacker that Bowles used him as with the cards.
If we are interested and he turns us down that will be a very sad indictment and a shit thanksgiving in the Bowles household later in 2018
Jets have been quiet today.. anyone hear of any interest in Mathieu aka honey badger. I think he would be a great addition to the young secondary.. If we had to jettison someone I vote for Buster.
I did say "ANY" interest thus not limiting it to the Jets, but thanks for your contribution to the discussion.
