I would be very, very happy if we sign Mathieu and resign Claiborne. I have a lot more faith on Jermaine that many of the folks here. I love it how some can swing the spectrum from Mac is a cheap skate for not grabbing Cousins (which I think would have been insane at that price), to we over paid as always for arguably the best available CB. I think the market dictates boundaries, and if you need him bad enough you reach that boundary. I think 28 is a bit late for the longer vision of this team but we can rethink that in two years. I personally think of overpaying when I see Cousins or even Bradford, and to some extent McCown to provide us continued leadership and insurance. Now we can go to the draft with options wide open....still target a QB, OL and BPA to fill the pipeline.
Good post my friend. I am not crazy about Honey Badger either for reasons you stated. We need another good corner. But if they decide to bring honey badger and cut Skrine I won't mind that.
Hmmm... ASJ or Ebron... I'd be okay with either, but if the price is right I'd consider signing Ebron on a short-term deal
don't get me wrong, i wouldn't mind adding a talented player. just feels like a luxury. Claiborne should be the priority. could prob add ASJ and Jordan Matthews for less than Mathieu, and we need a lot of help on O.
haha..all the cuts we haven't heard about will now start with only 30 minutes left before the guarantees kick in.
Tyler Eifert is also a servicable TE replacement for ASJ. Wouldn't mind Mathieu coming here at all (if nothing else but to stop him from going to the Pat's). Would allow flexibility for Adams/Maye to roam and rush. Bowles would likely prefer to run a 3-3-5 or 4-2-5 base, and, with Mathieu, it's not unreasonable.
Exactly. It's not like our linebackers are so unbelievable they need to be on the field 3 downs always.
I mean if it's very cheap depth, that's fine. At least he's a "pass-rusher", if you can call him that
I'd muuuuuuuuch rather him choose the Niners if we were going to have to match what they are paying him.
