For anyone who dislikes the signing id honestly love to hear why. 1. Cousins was never coming here, why would any of you if you were in his position, when Minny has a better RB, OL, WR, DL, LB, and DBs then us. The ONLY thing we could have provided more then Minny is money and his new contract still makes him the highest paid player in the league 2. Who else was there to sign? Keenum a career backup who Minnesota replaced the first oppurtunity they had? Bradford who literally gets hurt every single year? McCarron uhmm no Glennon repeat 3. Teddy provides the best option for our short and long term future, is 25 years old, turns 26 in November 4. Has had 64% comletion percentage 28 Tds 22 ints in only 2 seasons of play. The arrow is pointing up
I have to laugh at "the arrow is pointing up". He hasn't played meaningful snaps in almost 2 years and a majority of that time is because he was recovering from a career-altering injury. How the hell is there even an arrow, let alone an arrow pointing up?
Yes it is a great option but now it is not a mandate. This lets them stack the board with a more honest eye.
Cousins was never coming here. And if he did come here, it would have been a huge mistake. We are trying to build something long term, not sign Cousins and have him walk in 3 years when he wants an even bigger contract that we then wouldn't be able to afford. There is no downside to Bridgewater AS LONG as we draft a QB.
I like Teddy too and I hope his knee problems are behind him. He is 25 and upside is there. I hope this works out in our favor. That said, still either trade up for a QB if price isn't terrible or if you can't trade up trade down and get another project QB.
Keenum was one of the better QB's last year. Why would they put Teddy out there during the middle of a run when he and the Vikings were playing well??
Teddy has some serious leverage here as he is the only QB left. He could pretty much demand whatever he wants and we would have no choice but to pay him.
Yeah, not a fan of the 3 year contract. Little bizarre. Does he plan to retire in 3 years...does he want another free agency run...etc?
Why so dismissive of McCarron? Granted he doesn't have much of a track record either but he did more in his games than a 'healthy' Bridgewater did and he has two good knees. This guy makes Pennington look durable and we don't even know what he is. Assuming he's cheap and if we get another viable QB in the draft or FA fine but you can't really rely on this guy as a 16-game starter.
I hope Teddy is feeling up to the challenge and is healthy, if so he could become the guy for the Jets. I wanted Teddy back in 2014. Pretty excited to watch Teddy play this year.
This guy's knee is so bad that the reports are saying "if" he's ready to start the season. WTF! He hasn't played meaningful game snaps in the NFL since 2015. ONly the f'in Jets. This better be a cheap, low guarantee deal.
