If they do wind up with someone like him I think the smart move is to sign him to a 1 year show me deal and pick QB at #6. If the deal isn't reasonable just go with McCown Petty. Whoever starts this year is just keeping the seat warm for whoever they pick at #6, similarly to what the Browns are doing bringing in Taylor to warm the seat for the they pick in the draft.
Agreed, I think they pick Barkley 1st then whichever QB they like best with their next pick. With QB they have multiple options in top 5, with RB there is just 1.
norwall would have been nice for sure. richburg isn't that good. barely better then johnson and would cost a ton more. watkins never produces that's why the rams let him walk. ASJ didn't produce much either. robinson does sting a bit. fans were doing the same thing when he cut mangold, brick, decker, marshall etc last year and look what happened, our young players outperformed them. guys like eneunwa, kearse, anderson etc all stepped up. building a team consists of trades, free agents, draft, and development. We are on the right path still. there are still good free agents to sign.
That's only if they select a guy who can play, jets have not been able to select and develope the young FQB they need, hence why they started Fitz and Mcown, not sure they will select the right guy this time either.

Re-sign McCown and move up for a QB. That is our only hope. I'm not sitting there at 6 so 2 teams can jump us and then 3 or all 4 of the top QB's go in the Top 5. Sucks that we have to do it, but if you want your guy, you're going to have to move up. That or take the last of the Top 4 at 6, or hope that's your guy. Even then, can Maccagnan draft the correct guy? I doubt it. But hey, we are bringing in "pass rusher" Benson Mayowa, he of 9 sacks in 5 season, and Spencer Long, a career rotational OL in Washington, so everything is roses.
