Arizona State somehow got in. Louisville, Notre Dame, and several other deserving teams were left out.
St. Mary's should've been in but the committee hates the WCC. Even when St. Mary's get in, they're underseeded.
Charles Barkley just mushed Rhode Island. I always fade this guy and Mike Zauf Francesser. He hates Oklahoma in this game so expect them to win big.
I don't understand the hate for the new format. I thought it was great and so much better than the dog & pony shows they traditionally have
Arizona State definitely didn't deserve a bid but the hell with Louisville & Notre Dame. the ACC got NINE bids already. You wanna put in 10th and 11th place teams? this is competitive sports not a participation trophy. It should be a rule in the first place that if you finish below .500 in conference you're automatically ineligible unless you win the conference tournament.
Louisville wasn't below .500. You're saying I want the ACC to have 10 or 11 teams, which would only be correct if I stated all the ACC teams that made it were deserving. Syracuse wasn't deserving, obviously. They were inferior to Louisville by any metric. Syracuse got one of the ACC bids, which is ridiculous as they finished 11th in the ACC during the regular season and then proceeded to get routed by UNC in the conference tournament. At least five teams that didn't make the tournament had more impressive seasons than Syracuse.
Syracuse's non conference schedule was ranked 14th, and it's overall schedule was ranked 18th. Beat Miami and Louisville on the road. Beat Clemson at home. I didn't think they would get in, but you can make an argument for them getting in.
We doing a bracket group this year? I've filled out quite a bit of brackets now. My Final Four keeps ending up as Virginia vs UNC, and then Nova vs either Duke or Michigan State.
Watch out for Virginia now. They just lost the 6th man of the year for the entire tournament. I think he hurt his wrist.
last year I was able to find an article breaking down injuries to impact teams. I can't find anything now. This site lists injuries but most of them are inconsequential or for teams not in the NCAA tournament. http://www.donbest.com/ncaab/injuries/ Article about Hunter and Virginia: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...unters-injury-dont-be/?utm_term=.a50e368e4f45 March Madness hasn’t even started and already there is reason to doubt top-seed Virginia after it was learned freshman De’Andre Hunter would be out for the tournament due to a broken wrist suffered during last week’s ACC tournament in New York. The team will miss Hunter, the ACC sixth man of the year, but I wouldn’t discount their championship aspirations by much.
Good point, we'll have to see how they do without him. Still an insane defense though. My money brackets all have Virginia, Nova, or Duke winning it all, which aligns with KenPom for the top teams. I'd like to see them eventually make the day after the SuperBowl and the first 2 days of the NCAA tourney national holidays. No one gets anything done these days anyway. I'm in the office tomorrow but will be watching streams/checking scores all day.
