If you're Robinson, would you rather go to a team with a long-term QB in place, or a team with a giant question mark at the position? It's not always about money.
Damn the Richburg signing hurts. Didn't care about any of the other signings but he was a perfect fit for us.(Hes a perfect fit in SF as well) Ill still be happy with Jensen but we need a Center in FA, you can't go into the draft needing to draft a center.
no confidence we'll get Jensen though, not the way there is NO info about any FA (otehr than cousins) and the Jets
That's your opinion, but regardless, it's a long-term answer. We have none right now and that's a fact the fan-base needs to accept until we find an answer.
The Jets obviously learned nothing from 2014-2015 and they're right back in the same mess. I guess that's one of the problem with trying to do a rebuild...it makes it very difficult to meet the NFL requirements for spending. The bolded part is true, but the flip side of that is that it can completely destroy a team's salary structure. You pay an OG $13-$14 million a year when your LT has only been making $6-$8 million per year, what's that LT gonna want? In addition, if the Jets signed both Robinson and Norwell, around 25% of their cap would have been tied up in two players. I'd hate to be Mac and having to find a way out of this mess.
I"m not sure that the money has to be spent this year, but think it does by next year, so I think they probably need to re-sign Davis and ASJ regardless of the cost. Unless they sign Cousins or sign 7-8 first tier FAs and give big deals to their own that they're re-signing, they're going to have a very difficult time spending all that they need to.
Guess the "mutual interest" between Richburg and the Jets wasn't so "mutual" or the Jets went cheap. Hopefully they'll announce signing Jensen soon.
Well it really shows how much a quality QB changes a franchise. No one would touch the 49ers and now there are plenty of FA's going there. Hopefully the jets announcement today is the trade of the jets moving to the third overall in the draft. I think that would calm a few folks lol.
Keenum really was the one that screwed the jets. Not because he was an option for the jets but his signing is what made the Vikings even more desperate to sign Cousins
Shit... Not much at TE in free agency after ASJ and Burton. IMO don't want 31 year-old Jimmy Graham nor do I think he'd sign here. So... Another position to address in the draft or sign a mediocre FA to team with Tomlinson and Leggett? I guess they can also try Eiffert, but he's just been so injury prone is it even worth it?
Jets should throw the bank at Cousins AND take best QB available. Dont give me crap about others needs. Without a QB nothing else matters.
