I was really rooting for him to do well, especially after the end of last year, team showed a lot of life. Personally I don't think this team is as talented as I thought, they work hard but that's about it, they have 3 guys that are NHL stars, Barzal, Anders Lee and JT. Ladd is at the end of his career and that's about it. Defensively they have had some serious injuries to contend with and I really thought the young kids were ready but they have proved unready. They need to start with Snow and hire someone with a legitimate resume, break it down and start from scratch with their young talented core. Hosang, Barzal, and Anders Lee
It's been 12 years, the organization can't say the fans have not showed patience with Snow. It's time, pure and simple, JT is leaving there is no doubt about it, that's why I did not include him in the core of players.
of course he will leave WHY would he stay ? If the house is not cleaned the day after the season ends it will be the day JT signs with Toronto
My gosh, how could I forget him, he's only been on the team for ten years, soon he'll start his decline and we will have another underachieving old veteran on the team reminding us of Chimera. Can't make this up JB.
Bailey would be fine,,IF HE was in our bottom six , sadly he rides shotgun with our best player who will soon be gone .
Bailey’s contract can mean only one of two things — Snow has full support of ownership; otherwise how the hell do they approve him to sign any deals at this point if they are going to jettison him and force his contracts on the next GM. or two, they wanted the deal done which means they don’t know shit. Neither option speaks highly of the outlook for the team.
Are JT and Bailey tight ? friends ? That was the only reason I could see them signing him I don't care how much of a bargain people thought it was that guy flat out makes me sick watching him on the first line
Does someone think that Bailey's contract was a bargain? He should have been signed for 3 years $11 million and was instead signed for 6 years $30 million. It might be the worst contract the Islanders have signed since Yaschin and DiPietro.
Stat,,,yes if you went to an Islander blog or board as I did to see what people thought most people thought he was worth $5 million a year and that he would have gotten more had he gone on the market,,,,,I was amazed and WISH he was on the market and someone had signed him. Freaking amazing
Wow, that's amazing. It's like Jets fans - we're so used to poor play that we glamorize mediocre play far beyond what it actually is. Given that I think Tavares will be gone he'll certainly have the opportunity to show that he's truly a $5 million man. I have my doubts.
The only reason this matters is that it makes the first round draft pick they got in the Hamonic trade more valuable. One thing I have to say, Snow has managed to dump some of his own lousy players on other teams for a good price; unfortunately when it's a draft pick he usually just turns it into another lousy player, but still.
I didn’t think the Yashin contract wasn’t awful when it was signed and that team came out the gate great. Sure, he absolutely fell off the earth, but what killed that team was the firing of Laviolette. One more reason to despise Mike Milbury.
I disagree. The draft picks, trades, FA are all meaningless unless L&M remove their heads from their asses and fire the idiots we have for a GM and HC. Otherwise nothing will change as Snow will continue to run this franchise into the ground.
7 goals on 22 shots?!? I don’t even care if JT leaves at this point; the entire mess needs to be blown the fuck up. It’s astounding how such a losing franchise could have such stability in the GM position.
