I think that you're mistaken about Powell constantly dealing with injuries. I could be mistaken, but I think he did have several injuries his first 2-3 seasons in the NFL, but with the exception of 2015, he has stayed pretty healthy since then.

His rookie season (2011), he only appeared in 2 games. I think he did have some injuries his rookie season, but he was also slower then, and may not have been as good or well-rounded a player as he is now. I think that, as much as the injuries he had early in his career, is why he was never seen as

In 2012 he appeared in 14 games, starting 2.

In 2013, he appeared in 16 games, starting 11.

In 2014 he appeared in 15 games, starting 1.

In 2015 he appeared in 11 games, starting 2. I think he did have a somewhat serious or lingering injury this season, or perhaps a couple of injuries.

In 2016 he appeared in 16 games, starting 4.

In 2017 he appeared in 15 games, starting 10.

Powell is a play maker... why this CS doesn't give him more touches is beyond me.

He's not a big guy and you don't want to beat him up too badly. no coaching staff gives RBs 25-30 carries anymore really. Remember when the chiefs ran larry johnson to the ground in 2 season? teams laearned their lesson. pretty much every team runs a RBBC now and even the teams with lead backs rarely run them over 250 times a game. I think keeping powell at 20 runs and 40-50% of the snaps is perfect. I don't want to see him carrying the ball 30 times a game

I'm not looking at his early career, focusing mainly on the last 2 years (when he's had the most work of his career). Also not considering the "Out" designation, I'm considering how often he's been on the injury report. I'd have to look it up, but I want to say he was listed on more than half of the injury reports for one reason or another. He's also 30, those nagging injuries aren't going to get better.

I love Powell's game, he's an exciting player. In my opinion, he's not an every down guy. If he was constantly healthy, he'd be getting a lot more touches. Two different coaching staffs in his career, and I don't think they had vendettas against the guy.

I totally agree that he's not an every down guy, and you're right that at 30, there will likely be more nagging injuries.

How does one check old injury reports?

Probably through google, you can find anything. Sadly, I'm shoveling non-stop today and can't look. Maybe Football Reference even?

I want a bulldozer to pair with McGuire & Powell. Nick Chubb, Ron Jones for example. Or even a late round flier on Ballage, Penny or Josh Adams.

He may not get a larger work load, and that's fine, I prefer a dual back running game, but he won't have any problem staying on the roster. He's an excellent back. I'd love to see him retire with the Jets.

Wouldn't mind adding Murray on a cheap deal

I think you can probably count on at least two new starters on the OL (LG & C) this season (or at least we should be able to count on that), and they possibly could even upgrade Shell at RT, but I doubt it. Carpenter isn't a good fit for the Jets' new zone blocking scheme. By releasing him the Jets could save $4.7 million on the cap although they'd incur a $2.105 million dead money hit.

No thanks. Draft a younger RB. Feels like we haven't had a young back in years.

Browns definitely taking Barkley at 1 now. Just traded for Tyrod Taylor.

Couldn't Tyrod be a stop gap for the QB they might take at 1?

Maybe. Cleveland traded Kizer. So they still need a QB.

I would be perfectly happy if the Jets picked up the bruiser from the Giants for tough yards and gave Powell 15-20 carries and McGuire 10-15 carries. That works for me.

I'd like to see McGown resigned and play 1-2 years while the QB they will hopefully draft sits and learns. Also, keep Hack.

Jets fans would be absolutely apoplectic if Mac drafts a QB in the 1st round and he sits for 2 years ala Hack. Rosen could probably start day one. Mayfield could possibly, but he may need to sit for 3-4 games or half a season. Darnold will probably need to sit for a year. He has the least experience of any of the top QBs in the draft.

The ONLY QB I want in this draft is Mayflied... resign McCown & start McCown (unless Mayfield beats him out in camp)... & start Mayfield by game 6-8... you can keep Hack holding the clipboard to Continually remind Mccags that looks & stature do NOT equate to productivity.

I'd be shocked if Guice is still on the board in the 3rd round. He might be the 2nd RB picked behind Barkley.
