His passing percentage is a problem.

Well unless he's always going to keep the ball instead of trying to pass, that won't work.

I might get grilled for saying this, but I'd welcome a run heavy style offense, especially if we have to start a rookie QB. The top 5 rushing teams all made the playoffs last year. However, Id feel better about it if we had a stud Oline (which we don't) and had better horses than Powell and McGuire.

Fortunately for us, if Bates does turn out to be some great new offensive mind, he’ll be immediately hired away from us as a HC.

Does Bates even want to be a hc? Jets would know before anyone else

Good question. He seemed reluctant to take the OC job.

Lol how did he “seem” reluctant? I think what you meant to say was Manish’s unnamed sources said he was reluctant.

Between FA and the draft, the Jets should be able to upgrade both the starting unit and the depth on the OL. They should also be able to add a starting quality RB in the draft.

Bates is from the Shanahan tree... so you know it’s going to be run heavy, play action and testing Ds over the top.

Here’s the thing... we don’t have the 3 key pieces to make that offence work. You need a bell cow RB, you need a 4.3 type speedster at WR and you need a pro style QB.

Hopefully they draft Allen, Chark and Penny....

Not necessarily. Hopefully, Bates is his own man and not a slave to what Shanahan did when he coached under Shanahan. Hopefully, he will tailor the Jets' system to fit the talent he has on hand.

Well Robby Anderson isn't exactly slow, but who knows what will happen with suspensions.
