I don't think Cousins is legitimate franchise QB. The Redskins seems to think he isn't either. He just happens to be available when a few teams need a better QB than what they have currently. He is leaps and bounds better than what the Jets have but he is not worth 30 million a year. The rest of your post is spot on. The talent level of the Jets is abysmal and bringing McCown back is a joke unless he is 3rd string.
I would be thrill with Mayfield starting Day 1. How often do you get a heisman winner on your roster. Guy put up great numbers and can throw all the passes. He's uber competitive and wants to be here. What else do you want from a QB. If he is the pick its obvious Cousins didn't want to be here so we've moved on.
I wouldn't be completely against rolling the dice on Bridgewater if we draft a kid at 6 but to think a pairing of McCown and Bridgewater solidifies the QB position makes me wanna hurl. If i'm willing to take a risk on Bridgewater coming off that horrific injury I'd much rather bring in a guy like McCarron , depending on price, and let him and a pick @6 battle it out in camp...I think that may be the better option.
Its a bit sad that we get the new York market , we got more cap room and we lose cousins to a franchise who never won a superbowl. It shows a bit lack of competence i mean its ok to not like the guy but to want the guy and not be able to land him is a bit disappointing. They better trade up now else we see josh playing again a full year no one wants to see that with 100 M in cap space.
Through 13 games last year our old broken down Qb playing with inferior offensive talent had 18 tds, 8 Int, 2900 yards... And this $90M+ Qb through that same time period had 21 tds, 8 int, 3200 yards... This is a blessing. Solid top 15 qb, nothing more.
How did they compare through the last 3+ games? And how about the next year? And the one after that? And the one after that? I don't mean to be confrontational and I loved Josh McCown last year. I wish we'd gotten him back in 2009 instead of Sanchez given hindsight. But Cousins IS worth millions of dollars more to an NFL franchise.
agreed. If we settle for Bridgewater (for a one year prove-it deal), we MUST draft a QB ( lets assume Baker) and let them compete. Hopefully Baker blows everyone away at camp. I think he's good enough and competitive enough to do so.
Jet fans celebrating not being able to sign a good qb so we can draft a guy we hope can be a good qb. You can’t make this stuff up
I've followed Pauline for awhile. He's not always right but usually is. Haven't seen the report anywhere else but could be true. Guess we are onto plan b. I'm hoping Bridgewater/McCown. We'll see. I think Bridgewater goes to Arizona.
I am good either way. Wouldn't mind having Cousins and also wouldn't mind saving that money and drafting our future.
If Bridgewater is the only QB added to the roster this off-season I am going to riot. Plan A needs to be Kirk Plan B needs to be Baker, Rosen or Darnold Plan C needs to be Teddy
I don’t really disagree but unfortunately the timeline does not support that. I’m fine with.. Plan A - Cousins Plan B- Bridgewater & Darnold, Rosen or Baker Plan C- Fire Mac immediately if he can’t accomplish Plan A or B.
Ive seen multiple reports that support this. Even seen a report that indicates the jets have heard enough to move on to plan B and C Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
I think we'll be better off in the long run. But i would not exactly dismiss the idea of the jets getting cousins just yet. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
He’s not exactly going out on a limb predicting Cousins to the Vikes. If the reports are true that Plan B is Teddy B & McCown then we are certainly not better off with plan B and hopefully the Jets just move on to Plan C.
Doesn't the Cousins thread exist for baseless reports from no-names like this? Everyone do themselves a favor... don't listen to a single report -- positive or negative -- until the pen hits the paper .
Pauline is hit or miss and lately he's been more miss, so I'm not going to panic over this. I'll believe Cousins is coming here, or going to Minnesota, Denver, Arizona or wherever, next week, when he signs on the dotted line. Or when Adam Schefter reports something.
I agree. That's my first choice as we know what we are getting in Kirk. Vikings are making that difficult as they are much closer to the Super Bowl than we are and can give him just as much as we can. We shall see.
