Current status 89.5 mil https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/new-york-jets this includes the new announced cap for 2018 of 177.2 mil https://overthecap.com/nfl-sets-salary-cap-177-2-million Carry over for the jets at 17.3mil (kicks in march 14th) http://nfltraderumors.co/2018-cap-space-carryover-32-teams/ total of 106.8 mil teams are required to spend 89% of the cap the jets currently sit at 50% EDIT: thanks to @Don for pointing it out but i fucked 1 thing up i forgot to subtract the dead money so 106.8-14mil means we have about 92-93mil to spend not the 107ish
assuming we would draft him at 6 a little more then adams got last year Jamal Adams signed a 4 year, $22,258,711 contract with the New York Jets, including a $14,328,154 signing bonus, $22,258,711 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $5,564,678. So i'd say roughly 4 years at 6 mil a year so pretty much nothing to put a dent in what we have. Also FWIW i don't get the mayfield love, he's easily the least talented of the top QBs in the class, if we go the draft route, give me darnold or jackson
Absolutely no with Jackson. Non starter. Never. To me he's easily the least talented of the name guys Darnold I'd be happy with
All you here about mayfield is attitude, fire ,passion, winner etc etc . Never anything about his talent.
That's not true. You hear plenty about his talent. He has very good arm strength and can make all the throws. Elusive, buys time and makes big plays down the field
exactly. he's the least talented of the bunch but he has all the intangibles people love. I'm gonna start calling flutie from now on
based on what exactly? some clickbait articles you read? I remember the same thing being said about watson last year, he turned out to be the best of the bunch so far. and watson doens't have half the arm jackson does
He,to me is average in just about every way with some flair and hype around him. I expect him to go the way of many hyped up college qbs.
I wouldn't hesitate to draft Mayfield if he was available at 6. Kid can make the throws, is accurate, a leader on the field, and has the drive to succeed. Some here obviously disagree but that's what makes this board so fun.
If we don’t land Cousins, this is my preferred course of action. Go for the gunslinger who can make the plays and rally the troops.
I don't want some skinny righty Vick with accuracy issues who can't read a defense. No more "dual threat gimmick" bs. I'm looking for smart dropback passers
There is no questioning Jackson's arm strength but as we've seen many times before (Jeff George, Cutler, Jamarcus Russell) big arms don't necessarily translate to great QB play. I'm not high on Jackson but wtf do I know
his arm strength while impressive is not the reason why. If i wanted arm strength i'd be for allen who i've been against for the exact reasons you listed.
