I would rather see the Jets draft a CB than Allen - and I do NOT want them to draft a CB. See the post that that Rockyusmc2003 posted in the What QB Do We Draft Now? thread regarding Allen's chances of making it in the pros. EDIT: Sorry, I originally said "do NOT want them to draft a QB", but meant CB.
I haven’t watched that yet but I will soon. I’m very intrigued by Allen but I don’t really want the Jets to draft him. I’d rather some other team gamble on him and I can watch his career from afar. Preferably that team is Browns or Giants which drops Rosen to the Jets, who I’m falling more “in love” with every day.
Rosen reminds me immensely of Goff, who Mac apparently loved and tried to trade up for. I think he’s QB1 on our board. And that combine interview should dispell any character concerns.
If you can make a reasonable trade to get to #1 or #2 before free agency you do it. Worst case scenario is that Cousins goes to the Vikings, and you have 3 very desperate suitors trying to outbid each other to trade up for Darnold/Rosen, and the losers reaching for a raw & flawed QB prospect.
Injuries really have me concerned about Rosen... he can have all the talents in the world but if he’s not on the field then he has little value to us. Out of the top 5 QBs I think he could be the biggest bust simply because of concussions. At the QB position you need to be talented and intelligent, if you’re suffering from mushy melon then that’s half the qualities you need to be successful gone.
Concussions manifest from a certain force of trauma. Is Josh Rosen’s brain fluid thinner than other humans? This is going to come down to protecting the guy as with any other QB, even with a shitty line, injury prone McCown didn’t get concussed.
What's more of a concern is these concussions and other injuries occurred in college. In the pros it's a tougher game with more injuries likely to mount. Hes a very smart QB ....maybe he needs to focus on how to protect himself more, learning how to slide and whatever else that will help him extend his career. I would put money that his injuries are even more of a concern than his attitude to the teams in the top 10 of the draft.
Nothin' on Rosen. Tom Benson marathon all day over and over I was expecting, hoping, for crazy hype to level the field on all the QB's. Hope that happens with all of them after the Mayfield stuff yesterday.
Bottom line you hope the Giants are stuffy enough to pass on Rosen. The fact that he's opinionated may scare them away. They have an old crotchety GM and an old crotchety franchise. Rosen is a franchise QB and you gotta hope he's there at 3. He may not be.
@legler82 What is your take on Rosen? How much you love him compared to Wentz, Mahomes, Darnold etc. ?
Anyone hear Jim Mora Jr on NFL network yesterday? He was talking about Rosen and had mostly good things to say, but then he alluded to perhaps a lack of preparation in meetings/film study. Basically saying he will need to work harder on that at the next level. I can't find the clip of it; maybe he didn't mean that, but that's how it came out. Unsettling coming from his former headcoach.
