Plays like 1:44 are the one thing that scare the shit out of me with Rosen The other top QBs make that throw on the run. He feels the need to reset his feet, which costs him a completion, takes a huge hit and turns over the ball. I think the NFL game moves too fast for a guy to reset outside of the pocket like that nowadays. It’s something he does a lot and I need to see him show more athleticism. Reminds me of Goff.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000918506/article/former-ucla-teammates-defend-qb-josh-rosen I thought his teammates didn't like him!
ha, so a year or two of getting bashed as a shithead, and finally ONE teammate stands up for him. and the other teammate in the article was lukewarm at best, verifying he was very cocky when he came in but has since 'matured'. color me unimpressed.
It'll be interesting to see how the interviews go. He might be arrogant, but he's an intelligent dude.
The interview process will be everything for Rosen (and to some degree Mayfield).. Some scouts and GM's allegedly have already crossed him off their list, like Dorsey in Cleveland. Of course we have no access to the players or their medical evaluations, so for my part I prefer to stay away from the red flags. If he takes a tumble on draft day, you'll know those interviews did not go well. But on the flip side it only takes one team to buy in......I'm just hoping that team is not the Jets. Rich kid that doesn't need the money, has concussion history, likes to buck the system and question authority, father a renowned doctor.......he might prefer to make his mark off the field.....perhaps leading the charge on a class action lawsuit against the NFL for head injuries for instance. Or by using the NFL platform to take political stances.. I'm just speculating of course, but that is the level of red flag I'm getting from him.
That's def a fair assumption, the Jets gotta do their due diligence for sure ... his on the field contributions are great, I do think he has the best football IQ for a QB in this draft bar none, perhaps the best in the last couple of classes. He had a good press conference today, when I get back to the crib, I'll link it, but I really like what this kid says. He mentioned his best attribute was going through progressions and making plays down the field. He even provided probability %s, kid is smart as shit lol.
I truly believe he has a shot to drop. Can Jet fans FINALLY be happy? The Browns don't seem to like him? Barkley might go to the Giants, Colts, Browns again, Denver, Jets ... Jets trade up to 3 take Rosen. Late 2nd rounder, a 4th and maybe a 3rd next year something like that ... it can be done without giving up our first next year.
I truly believe that Rosen is THE guy to finally take the place of Namath. In addition to his great arm and football IQ, he has moxie and an independent streak that I think will play well with the Jets. We've always been the "little brother", but I think Rosen would take that and wear it like a chip on his shoulder. The odds are against him being drafted by Macc, but he's worth whatever the cost to trade up and get IMO. Yes, it imght leave them unable to fill some other holes this year, but as long as they upgrade the OL between FA and the draft, they can fill the other holes next year and be looking at a decade plus run.
I think Mac really likes him and he's #1 on the draft board. They need to upgrade the OL in order for him to start, we can't afford to have a bad offensive line or he's toast. Maybe in 3 years he can overcome a bad line, but not right now. His mechanics are absolutely amazing. This kid thinks outside the box and I absolutely love it.
If it's true that the Browns are open to trading the 1st pick, I would give whatever they wanted to get it. I seriously doubt they'll give it up though. Still, for those who say "It would cost too much", what would you have given for P. Manning or Elway? Sure, there's no guarantee Rosen will be that good, BUT there's a damn good chance he will be, and if he is, he'll be the face of the franchise for 10-15 years, and if you amortize the cost of acquiring him it's peanuts.
It'll be a big deal involving a lot of picks, but if you can take it, do it. I don't normally like making a trade up so big, but as long as we build the roster, the Jets will be just fine in the long run.
I’m starting to think the loser of the Cousins sweepstakes between the Jets and Broncos might have Rosen as consolation prize. Something like.. 1. Barkley 2.Darnold 3.Chubb 4.Allen 5.Firzpatrick Or 1. Darnold 2. Barkley 3. Chubb 4.Fitzpatrick 5.Nelson I would think if Rosen is Macs guy, he would need to go to 3 or 4 to ensure him and prevent a team like Bills or Dolphins from trading ahead of them.
The problem is the order of events. If I could guarantee Rosen - Jets I’d be rooting like heck that Broncos signed Cousins. Unfortunately that is certainly not a guarantee and I’d hate to see Cousins sign elsewhere only to have Allen as the best choice available to Jets. These next few weeks will certainly be interesting.
