I'm not gonna pretend I can project the careers of guys that have never played an NFL down, but I have never been more confident that Josh Allen is going to be a massive bust. I don't know how anyone with two eyes can look at him and think "NFL QB"
I have the same doubts about Foles as I do about Cousins: is he good enough to take them all the way given the talent he will have around him on the Jets? And if they got him, it would almost certainly mean they don't draft one of the top QBs. I still prefer the draft route with McCown as the back up.
Its a possibility we do grab him indeed ... wont have a choice but to root for him, but no throwing footballs at opponents and grabbing your crotch. I wont be excited cause I don't think he will be great, but meh better then Keenum and Bradford.
Character and makeup mean everything at the QB position. Rosen is Jay Cutler with more concussions. Hack had a ton of mechanical issues coming out of college, suffered thru horrible coaching, and was shell shocked from the number of hits he endured. How is that similar to Allen in any way?
I don't think he'll continue to do things like that unless the fans like it. He's shown an ability to apologize and act contrite, and my guess is that even if he pulls something like this in the pros the poor reaction from the fans and media will quickly get him to mend his ways. He's not like Manziel in that he doubles down on stupidity.
Allen has awful mechanics. Combine that with his terrible accuracy and the fact that he got worse year to year and he's basically Hackenberg.
Well I guess we'll never agree, all due respect. I don't see ANY similarities between Cutler and Rosen. I love Rosen's self-assurance, and thinking for himself, and he's far an away the best pure passer in this draft. My only concern is his concussions, but I bet if everyone were honest, most football players have had multiple concussions even before they get to college.
If you watch film of Allen, how can you not see that? He misses WIDE OPEN receivers! He misses - by a wide margin - receivers inside a 10 yard distance! Looks like Hack to me.
Picked re-sign McCown and draft QB at 6. This would be bad because unless the Giants somehow stay with Eli, there will be 3 teams ahead of us who will go QB. I'm hoping Jets manage to land Baker at 6, with no need to trade up. I think Allen, Darnold and Rosen will be gone by 6
You serious Clark? Read literally any scouting report. Hell google the words "Josh Allen" and "mechanics" and read the first 74 things that come up.
How do you not see the similarities to Cutler? He's arrogant and rubs coaches, teammates and scouts the wrong way. He's kinda aloof when it comes to his desire for football. His leadership and likeability are questionable. Even physically, he's got a live arm and good moves a little like Cutler, although I think Cutler does get out of the pocket better. And then there is the injury history which we agree on. All major red flags. btw, I took your advice and started a separate thread on the topic so hopefully this one won't get derailed.
I guess we see what we want to see (I include myself in that too). Thanks for starting the new thread, I'll go check it out.
Case Keenum. If Minny lets him walk, he'll be cheap and he won't cost us picks like Foles. Brees would be awesome, but he's a pipe dream. Everyone likes McCown now, but if the rookie isn't ready we'll see how much they like him when he reverts to typical McCown.
The veteran options don't matter if Cousins signs elsewhere. Sign someone to back-up your 1st Round QB and that is it. Please don't sign anyone else to start.
If we sign Keenum - even being cheaper than Cousins - he'll still be the roadblock in front of any rookie, and prevent us from maybe finding the true FQB.
If we can sign Keenum for cheap, we can bench him for the rookie. He would sign here knowing he's not the long-term starter.
Re-sign McCown and take a rookie QB. Who or where that is, I have no idea. I'd like Darnold, but doubt he'd be there. The rest scare me for varying reasons. Darnold doesn't exactly make me jump for joy either, but I think he's the safest. Thing is, I think he's going to Cleveland. Rosen probably will scare them off and I don't buy this whole "the Browns love Josh Allen" thing.
