They are supposed to represent us not lead us. I feel like that has been a lost concept for way too long

What's lame is this intentionally vague statement that does nothing to address his viewpoint. What, specifically, do you have a problem with in his statement and what would you propose that differs?

New reports coming out that the FBI had even more tips that the shooter was going to explode. Man, how bad did law enforcement fail the dead kids? From the tips that lead to them doing nothing to the armed coward who did nothing and hid.

I'm not so sure he was a coward. He was out gunned and he knew it. There were 3 other LEO's on site that didn't go into the bldg. either. Those men decided going into the bldg. was a suicide mission and I would imagine if they had kids inside, they may have chanced going in. Profiles in courage? Hardly. Self preservation? definetly. Again, they're not Black Water Mercs.

Saw the latest report, too. If this proves to be true, regardless of their own personal opinion, they failed to perform their jobs. This, reportedly, was recognized by the Coral Springs officers who did respond and did what the job required them to do, enter the building. Sheriff Israel may be the next man on the chopping block if it is proven that four of his men were not sufficiently prepared to perform their duties as required.

Pretty sure you don't know what a strawman argument is.

One of those Coral Springs Officers did have a child inside the school so yeah, he was going in period. I can't imagine any of those 4 officers keeping their jobs after this or ever working in a LEO capacity again.

Deputy Sheriff salaries at Broward County Sheriff - Florida can range from $51,370-$78,975. Guess they just didn't wanna get shot.

That's not a strawman argument...You still don't know what those are clearly.

And it's a fact that the side arguing to arm teachers and give them stipends are also the ones who attempt to limit the resources for teachers to do their jobs.

A fallacy is an argument or belief based on erroneous reasoning. Straw man is one type of logical fallacy. Straw man occurs when someone argues that a person holds a view that is actually not what the other person believes. Instead, it is a distorted version of what the person believes.
You're trying to argue that I believe we shouldn't buy pencils for teachers but I want to pay them to carry.

    Bullshit.

I'm not wasting another minute on it. On vacation. Peace.

Obviously, "Good guys with guns" is not sufficient. As we all witnessed in Parkland shooting.

So - here is my suggestion.

    1. So - now we are arming our teachers - or that's what this so-called President wants to do. Do we want to stop here? Hell no. We should provide them with sufficient protection as well. This means protective vests and kevlar helmets.

    2. Is this sufficient? No. As we have seen, [good guys with guns] in the premise is not sufficient. So what do we need? We need snipers on the rooftop. Preferably 3 or 4 per school. If they can install a few guard towers to oversee the entire school, even better. This way, once the alarm goes off, the shooter won't be able to venture outside easily. Once the shooter is pinned inside the building, you can call the SWAT team and deal with him. Simple, eh?

    3. Is this sufficient? No. We should protect the children as well. They are precious after all, no? The kids should be wearing kevlar helmets and protective vests at all times while at school.

    4. Is this sufficient now? No. We should train the children to defend themselves as well. That's what the 2nd amendment guarantees. These kids should learn to defend themselves, and their right to bear firearm shouldn't be infringed either. This means we should install 25m firing range to every school. Every child should learn how to use handguns, as in military grade 9mm Beretta. On top of that, the select few "gifted" children should learn how to use the likes of AR-15, including zeroing and all other stuff. Finally, Phys Ed. class should incorporate PMI and other preliminary training needed for handling small firearms.

    5. Is this sufficient now? No. We need two pillboxes and metal detectors on every school gateway. Anybody who dares to enter the school through the front gate with AR-15 will be greeted with hail of machine gun bullets. [And those who don't enter through the gate - we have measures prescribed above.]

    6. Is this sufficient now? NO. What will you do if the shooter comes after the unprotected school bus? That's not good, right? So we should replace every school bus with FMTVs. If any shooter dares to go after these school-FMTVs, he will be greeted with either machine gun bullets or anti-tank rockets.

Once we install these measures, it gets you the following benefits:

    1. This will create near 500k sniper hiring.
    2. APC/FMTV business will be in full BOOM.
    3. Also, protective vest business will blossom.
    4. Most of all - SAFER SCHOOL.

Yeah - by then I don't know if this looks like "child soldiers" walking into military complex, or children going into school, but don't let these pesky little things like "reason" or "conscience" get in your way.

Sounds damned near like a SuperMax Prison.. You also forgot to include the electric eel infested moat around every school.

or, we can just allow teachers that do carry to carry at school, replace the gun free zone signs with signs alerting everyone that some faculty in the building may be carrying weapons.
we can also raise better children and help the ones that obviously need it so the urge to carry out these acts is reduced or eliminated.

most importantly, try to establish some sort of trust between the 2 parties. but that would require the name calling and arguing the extremes to stop.

Adding more guns to schools will just increase the number of people killed by guns at school.

Militarizing schools is not the answer. De-militarizing society is.

What a fucking commie socialist you have become. I am deeply disappointed in you - I have always expected better! [And that "commie socialist" is not even my word - ask Wayne. He'll tell ya.]

More guns is always the right solution. Yes - of course, you will need this "background check" but never mind that you can buy guns at any local gun fare without one. The point being - you NEED your guns, and the more the better.

Quite obviously someone really needs help with reading comprehension.

That only works in communist/socialist 3rd world countries like the UK, Australia, Sweden, Japan, Canada and all those dictatorships that have Gun Control that actually works. We're America and we need more guns dammit!
