My hat's off to Nuge today. Great game man.

He meeds a little more punch in his kick-offs though.

Not sure this should be an appreciation thread just yet. The guy had his best game as a pro today. Hats off to him but he's got a loooong way to go
before he's to be truly appreciated. We should know what we have by the end of this year.

I've been behind Nuge all along. I was hoping Mangini would give him a chance to come through for a long FG. Mangini hasn't trusted him until today. Those Nugent bashers must feel stupid now.

This will probably be Nugent's best kicking day ever. The only thing he needs to work on is consistency in his kickoffs. But, after the 54 yarder they showed Mangini and he looked like he didnt even expect nugent to make it.

He's been a good kicker so far, but you won't see me on his bandwagon until he kicks us a game-winner.

Man I was so surprised when he made that kick. I got up and ran around the room.

Was I the only one who saw the Texans recieve a kickoff at the 20? I was embarrassed. Great game, otherwise. A kickoff in the end zone was a shock. But not on the bandwagon yet. Lets see him hit a GW FG from beyond 50 with a playoff on the line. Then I'll get onboard.

One did. But he had like 2 or 3 go all the way down to the Goal line. What, you forget about those?

I'm glad he made a 50+ yarder, made all 4 FGs and made a slick tackle on the kickoff...

I'm still uneasy with him, it may take a game-winner or more of this to win me over...

But this is a huge step.

today was ideal kicking weather... but he had a nice afternoon. that 54 yarder was a bomb. aslong as he can knock through the shorties and the 40-45ers, hes fine, its all about consistency to me.

He should put them all in the end zone, every game, its what the kicker is supposed to do. So he does it a couple times in one game, for a change. I'm not going to give him a cookie for doing his job.

edit: he should put them all that deep in good weather, anyway. Kicking into a 20mph wind is excusable.

Great job, though it's only one week. He needs to start nailing the 40-45 yarders with consistency before I fully jump on the 'wagon.

Man, not many people here can keep their opinion without being swayed so easily to the other side. Most of the people here who voted in support him probably would have attended a public lynching of him just a few weeks ago, and now they want to ride him. Dear lord, it's one game in NFL career where he actually looked good. At least I'm consistently negative.

That would be nice. But no kicker gets all of them back into the end zone every game. Nuge is falling into a groove. I see more goal line kicks to follow.

Well said. I have been on the other side of the coin (thinking he is good and just needs an opportunity), but at least you stayed consistent. There would have been about 5 people that voted for him before this game. He finally got the opportunities I have been talking about all year and he came through. Let's remember, aside from the awful first game he is 11 of 12 with the only miss coming from 53 yards.

I've been very hard on Nugent, but he looked great today. I hope this gives him some confidence heading down the stretch.
But I'm not sold on him just yet....

Being negative all the time is a sign of a need for counseling
