So the Sheriff's Deputy chickened out? Did I understand that correctly? He knew the shooting was taking place and just stayed outside. What a coward. How can he sleep at night after that.

Honestly I think most people would rather be dead than live knowing you're a coward who did nothing while dozens of children got killed. He must feel like a real piece of shit.

Fog of war. Crazy shit happening all at once after a lifetime of boring nothingness. Spends the first six minutes with his head up his ass. You really think that’s unusual?

The coward hid behind a stairwell because he thought the shooter was in the parking lot? What? Story doesn't add up. If I was the parent of one of the dead kids I'd want him to lose his pension and spend the rest of his life staring at the bottom of a bottle.

Exactly how much security do you think $12-15hr buys? Evidently not enough to make someone face down a deranged individual with a AR. You're not getting a hero at bargain rates but instead, Paul Blart.

Wanna bet the security at the schools Congressmen and Senators send their kids are paid more and much better armed???

He was a deputy sheriff. Full time professional LEO and, by definition, good guy with a gun. Made zero difference. Not as a deterrent or as a stopping agent. Just how much do we need to harden the target? Combat forces? Navy Seals?

I bet Trump could pitch a ban on high capacity magazines and make it stick. He shouldn't give a fuck how badly the republican worms in Congress need the NRAs money.

The case for a good guy with a gun is also lost, with this deputy who watched and did nothing. Also, this movement that is happening in Florida by these children is something incredible. I can't help but respect and admire that a younger generation has decided to take this shit into their own hands.

There is a march happening next month right? Something like #Marchforourlives

The companies ending their partnerships with the NRA has picked up some serious steam today.

Glad to see one of my former employers, MetLife just end their relationship in the past hour.

Add to the list these others so far

    Wyndham Hotels
    Alamo Rent A Car
    National Rent A Car
    Enterprise

So, you want to pay them extra to carry guns but you refuse to buy them basic supplies to run a classroom (pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, tissues, etc.)? What a load of shit.

Also, the whole attitude conservatives are taking with this is ludicrous and historically prone to failure. The best way to keep guns out of school is by arming teachers...in school? How the hell does that make sense? Why not just regulate guns like every sensible country out there does? Because then you can't abuse the lack of regulation?

Liberals want to be proactive and prevent any kids from getting shot in the first place. Conservatives want teachers to be able to stop a shooter after the shooter has already started shooting students up. The end result of the latter is insane. It's always better to be proactive than reactive.

This ain't your grandfather's NRA. I bet most of its members would be appalled at the crazy stuff LaPierre has said during his tenure.

The NRA and their GOP muppets managed to do something the Democratic Party couldn't do. That is, mobilize an entire generation of young people to get involved and get engaged with the political process. An entire new generation of political activists are being groomed and trained by the intransigence of the ruling party of the moment and their NRA bankrollers.
I haven't seen anything like this since the 60's and I hope these kids keep fighting "the man" as we used to say back in the day..They'll probably eclipse the Millenial Generation as they seem to actually give a shit about what's happening and are willing to do whatever its gonna take to change it.

Amazing that the loudest voices for Armed Teachers don't send their children to schools that are in jeopardy. Their kids go to private schools but they want to turn the classrooms and hallways of working class kids into free fire zones as if teachers are gonna go head to head with heavily armed shooters and come out ahead without collateral damage in the form of wounded kids. If and when this "Wild West" fantasy shootout scenario plays itself out in real life, perhaps the light bulb will come on..
With any luck at all, it won't affect anyone we know or better yet, it never happens..
