Rex was the best HC and the most successful HC because he had a very talented team. A SB team that was missing the very most important on the team - QB. Now, who knows? Maybe one of those other slugs that Woody hired would have been more successful if given the same amount of talent, but make no mistakes about it, there's one common theme here. NONE of these coaches were ultimately able to win it all because they NEVER had the talent. BAD DRAFTING is the problem and always will be with ANY HC that comes here until we find a GM that knows WTF they're doing.
More like a life long sufferer. Every thing after Super Bowl III is just a blur and not worth reminiscing over. Every Jets coach had at the least one issue or another. Lou Holtz, Walt Michaels, Joe Walton, Bill Cozlet, Mangini, Edwards, Rex, Bowles, Pete Carrol, on and on with special mention to Bill Parcels only because his tenure was very brief. More like a cup a coffee. And you know something? I give these so called Jets fans and the media more the onus than the coaches because they're so terrific at picking out all the negatives that they can pinpoint with each passing game and season Jet coaches last about as long as exterior paint.
So we just needed to give these guys more time? You realize that no matter how long you marinate flank steak it never becomes filet mignon? Frankly they gave most of these guys more of a chance than they should have...some just the very fact of giving them the job in the first place, like Bowles. This team desperately needs a guy in charge of building the blueprint and then hiring the personnel to build it from that. They haven't had that guy since Werblin and Ewbank.
Haha, Bruce actually. He came and went so much without any impact at all , another memory blur recall.
