After accepting the Colts HC position, Adam Schefter has confirmed that McDaniels is now staying with the PATS
Wow, that's a shocker - you really do wonder if it's because BB is retiring, if not this year next year. Or maybe he just learned from the master how to screw over a team that you've agreed to coach. "I hereby resign as HC of the IC because I'm an SOB."
Well HC of NEP is obviously somewhere in the near future, because NOBODY else will offer him a job now
This stuff never happens with any other team does it? Always the same name whenever a shady story pops up
Ok wait, even more news and this is from Tony Pauline: Rumor circulating from league insiders - Josh McDaniels refusal to take Colts job means Bill's retirement could be imminent and McDaniels slides into the HC spot for the Pats"
Remember when the old Buccaneers owner was "left at the alter" at what was supposed to be Parcell's introductory press conference? Good times...
Either way there seems to be trouble in paradise...Kraft seems to be making some decisions on his own regarding Brady and Mcdaniels.
If this really is the end of BB you've got to wonder how much Tommy Boy has to do with it. Between the problems with his guru and his very explicit support of Malcolm Butler, Brady hasn't been shy about his problems with Belichick. Maybe he told Kraft he's going to listen to Giselle unless his boy Joshy is named head coach?
Wow. Josh McDaniels isn't exactly a proven quantity as a head coach, so it's amazing that he left the Colts at the altar at the 11th hour and 59th minute. Unless he's gotten some assurances from Kraft about his future in Foxboro, this is career suicide as far as any other head coaching positions are concerned because I doubt any other team would ever trust him enough to hire him. Based on that, it must be mean either that: (1) Belichick is retiring now and McDaniels will replace him; or (2) Kraft has promised to make McDaniels head coach whenever Belichick leaves. All we can be sure of is that something really weird is going on in Foxboro and there may more to come real soon. As much as it pains we to say it, maybe ESPN was right in its story about all the tension in New England. The Garopollo trade is starting to make a lot more sense.
More from schefter "Text from one league source: That's Kraft putting it to the Colts again. He will forever try and (expletive) that place ever since deflate gate"
Yeah, that's nonsense unless McDaniels has gotten assurances about the Patriots job, since he'll never get another offer. If he's smart he got those assurances in writing, as in he gets $5 million if he's not the coach by next year.
