McCown did play better then expected i'll give you that for sure. he also played like shit when we faced the broncos. sieman played way better that game. regardless IDK if i could say McCown was much better then siemian. he was better but it wasn't leaps and bounds really. Maybe mccown on the broncos wins them 1 or 2 more games then siemian did. Petty is also a much worse QB then siemian. i agree petty playing all year and we'd be picking 2nd right now.
powell maybe be 30 but don't forget we have maguire and RBs are easy to find in the draft. it's a good RB class. ASJ could be gone but i doubt it personally. Anderson likely won't miss much time and plus we already lost enunwa for all of 2017. so even if anderson does miss a few games we still have enunwa and kearse. I do understand what you are saying but the reality is it's the NFL. "what ifs" could happen to any team. Brady could blow out a knee in preseason (he did that 1 year the 2nd game of the season i think) and ti changes the whole team. he could go to the broncos and miller and thomas could both get hurt and all of a sudden they aren't looking to good either. all players know that it's part of the game.
It was sarcasm, I know it doesn't always translate on a forum. I wouldn't personally give up anything for Luck because if he is healthy, the Colt's are not letting him go anywhere. If they are willing to deal him, it would be because they have concerns about his health or they know something about his recovery.
With the team's overall situation, giving up one of those 2nd round picks would hurt. It would be no different if we blow one of those 2nds like we did on Hackenberg, but we have way too many holes on this roster to be gambling on a rookie. I agree we will have a QB this offseason, besides what we already have on the roster for 2018. Chances are McCown will be the guy they resign. Bates taking over as coordinator IMO almost guarantees McCown as our starter next year. If we get lucky with those first 4 draft picks, and during free agency, maybe we can grab 4-8 quality starters. OL(C,G,T), RB, OLB, CB, WR, DE/DT, are positions of need that this team needs to upgrade. I am not ignoring QB, I know we need one, I just don't see Bates being a 1st year coordinator and developing a rookie QB at the same time. He has his hands full with guys to develope in Petty and Hack. If we cut one of those two before the draft, that would lead me to believe we may draft another. I just don't see us taking one this year. Again it's only my opinion, but with the way our staff keeps changing on the offensive side, a rookie wouldn't have a chance. I believe our starting QB will be signed, rather than drafted.
Denver is a dying aging team. They have to contend with The Raiders which will be good for a long time with all the young talent they have. If Cousins signs with Denver it it truly only a win now move as they will be down at the bottom rebuilding in the next couple years
I would be shocked if Bridgewater becomes available. I think he is going to stay in Minny. Zimmer & Bridgewater are extremely close
They may be an older team, but with a veteran at QB the rebuild will be quicker and produce more. If Cousins is 30yrs old, I see no reason he can't play to the age of 40. That's a lot better than trying to rebuild with some rookie QB at the controls until he figures it all out. It would be a good move for Denver, and not just a win now IMO. I hate that he would command so much money, but in the current NFL it's par for the course. Rebuilding with a rookie at QB doesn't work unless he is a sure fire HOF projected guy coming out of college like Manning, Elway, or Marino. There isn't one of them in this draft, so I see Denver throwing a hefty offer at Cousins. The JETS just aren't an attractive looking team to the top free agents, so unless we get stupid with Money we will have McCown and a non 1st round QB heading into camp. That's my bet on where management will lead us. The only way it would turn out different is if the brass gives the ok for Bates to have his man in this draft, provided he can see who that guy is through all the clouds in this cloudy QB class. I don't think Bates has that kind of power, and the last time Mac took his man at QB we see what we got. The Jets will have a veteran signed this off season, probably McCown. By the way, he played well enough to deserve a 2nd year with the team considering the team he was surrounded by on offense. No rookie in this class could duplicate his play with the team he had. Just sayin
If anyone wants to change their vote to trading for Nick Foles you still can. I'm sure more than 5 people want a 29 year old Super Bowl MVP who just went toe-to-toe with the GOAT.
I think the Vikes tag him. $21 million on the tag isn't a bad price considering the season he just had. Pretty sure Spielman doesn't want to get in a bidding war for Cousins and Bridgwater is too much of an unknown. Though I did read that they want or are going to try and get Bridgewater's contract tolled.
Any player placed on a physically unable to perform list (“PUP”) will be paid his full… salary while on such list. His contract will not be tolled for the period he is on PUP, except in the last year of his contract, when the player’s contract will be tolled if he is still physically unable to perform his football services as of the sixth regular season game. Basically, from what I understand, 2017 never happened and he'd be in the last year of his rookie contract in 2018. Spielman is spinning it like it's the NFL's call but it's pretty clear who wants that contract tolled.
I have no expectation that he will sign here. I am not a big fan. Sure he is better than what we have. But I am just not excited
The 49ers agreed to terms on a five-year contract with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo worth $137.5 million, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. This according to a source informed of the decision. The deal is the largest in NFL history on an average-per-year basis. San Francisco acquired Garoppolo in October from the New England Patriots for a 2018 second-round pick. The quarterback was in the final year of his rookie deal. The new contract helps the Niners avoid using the franchise tag on Garoppolo. 27.5 mil for garappolo for playing 5 games. cousins will likely get 28 mil a season
I suspect that Jimmy G will prove to be a much better investment than Kirk Cousins (not that I think he will be bad but I think JG is going to be great - just really glad its not going to be with the Pats)
If the Jets don’t sign Cousins, maybe they’ll use some of that money to sign the 100-million dollar man! https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...unt-of-money-it-would-take-to-sign-with-jets/
