skin fans are pretty pissed http://es.redskins.com/topic/419969...-schefter3rd-rd-pick-cb-kendall-fuller-to-kc/
The article isn't too specific and I don't know everything. My understanding is that if he passes his physical the Jaguars can still release him without much of a salary cap issue. Lot of ifs. I agree. I think he is staying in Jacksonville but feel if Cousins will sign there Jacksonville will release him. Be interesting to see how it plays out. https://www.news4jax.com/sports/nfl/jaguars/jaguars-face-three-choices-with-bortles On a side note. It'd be very Jet like for Bortles to be the Jets qb next year after everything plays out. SOJ. Only with the Jets my friends. only with the Jets.
Yeah wouldnt be happy (or surprised) if the Jets signed Bortles. From what they said on the radio, Bortles 5th year option has been picked up. By getting this wrist surgery he is now designated as "injured" and the team cannot cut him while having the "injured" designation. If Bortles is on the Jax Roster Day 1 of the league year (march something) his contract ($19 mil) is fully guaranteed, hence no money for Cousins ...unless the Jets trade for him
Colin Cowherd explains why Alex Smith is an upgrade over Kirk Cousins in Washington LINK SPOT ON! Preach it Colin!
me either. especially with how much they paid him (23.5mil a year 4 years like 73mil guaranteed) plus they gave up a 3rd and a good player. the skins are really just a poorly run franchise. maybe cousins told them to fuck off?
Pretty much the last ass clown I would cite to help prove my case. I'd take Cousins over Smith every single way, every time. As of Smith is some kind of big winner.
I don't care if you like Colin or not. Facts are facts. Red flags everywhere regarding Kirk Cousins. Of course this will be the guy Mac will go out and try to blow.... 30 mill a year on to save his job, because he couldn't identify a good quarterback to save his life. Mac is desperate to save face after so many whiffs at QB, and I can see him handing out 30 million a year to Kirk freaking Cousins. So many QB's in this league are better than Kirk Chokesins, but the Jets will probably make him the highest paid QB in the league just to get him to come here. #SOJ
Must be Chris Mortensen is an idiot too. Or is it Manish Mehta? Must be anyone you don't agree with is an idiot. Ha ha...."Go Get" Kirk Marino...........I mean Cousins! LMAO!
Man oh man. I am on the sign Cousins bandwagon as I don't trust Mac to pick the right QB in the draft but seeing that I am on the same side as Manish, I am doubting myself. Meantime, I might have missed. Who is your favorite QB in the draft?
If Alex smith was 28 years old then sure he would be valuable, a guy who doesn't turn the ball over and is underrated as a rushing QB would certainly be valuable. But Alex smith will be 34 before next season, his play is more likely then not to fall off a cliff in a year or so, giving up anything more then a 4th for him was an extreme overpayment. Kirk is an above average QB and I think he is around smiths level right now, you can argue that smith is better and I think that's a valid opinion. However Kirk has a much longer window of success open to him. Let's also remember that Kirk just threw for 27 touchdowns with Clyde gates level WRs this season
It wasn't so much the trade that was dumb of washington but the fact that they are reportedly signing Alex Smith to a $23.5 million annual extension. How dumb are they? Cousins is too expensive for them so they trade a promising defender and sign an average 35 year old quarterback to almost $24 million anyway...yikes
You must be joking. An average qb doesn't lead the league with a 104.7 quarterback rating. Redskins made an excellent move getting rid of Cousins for Smith. He is going to be cheaper, and they'll have more success with Alex Smith than they ever did with Kirk Cousins.
Eh, I think they are pretty comparable. Smith technically had a better season than Cousins, but was also on a better team, surrounded by better offensive weapons. To me, the trade for Alex Smith trade makes no sense for Washington because it's sort of a lateral move, except that the guy you are getting is about four years older than the guy you are giving up. There are clearly some people in the NFL who really love Alex Smith, tho. It's interesting.
