Denver is going to have to cut some players if they want to sign Cousins, after the season they had last year combined with cutting some top players, I don't see them being his best chance to win. Arizona has a little over $7 mil in cap space, enough to sign draft picks, who are they cutting to make the needed space? Browns I think would be bottom of the list if he is looking to win now. Jets with a high 1st, and 2 seconds, a few good young players plus cap room, in addition to what he had to say about Bates, could make him consider the Jets over the above 3. I think Denver is the biggest competition and if they get him that means a QB likely drops to the Jets in the draft.
I might be the only person in the world that thinks this but the Browns are closer than people think. They have young talent, especially on defense, and now draft picks and tons of cap room. Their 0-16 record is a mirage. Hue Jackson was playing Kizer all year, obviously over his head, just to make a point about the front office screwing him over to ownership. Now- of course that kind of internal strife is bad football business, I'm just telling ya if they were playing like most teams they would be nowhere near 0-16. If they made the Jets-like decision to play a Josh McCown all freakin year, they have 5 or 6 wins and are easily on a better trajectory than we are. Ultimately though, I think Cousins will sign with whoever offers the most money, period. The Browns have more room than the Jets. If they want to win the bidding war they can, and personally I think it makes more sense for them to break the bank on Cousins than us.
If I am the Browns I sign Cousins and trade the #1 pick to Denver for the #5, Von Miller, and anything else that isn't nailed down.
Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Big Ben, Weintz, Wilson, Carr, Stafford, Watson, Ryan, Rivers, Goff, Jimmy G, Luck, Newton..I could go on with a few more I would rather have, he would be about 16-20 on my list which is in the middle of the league and the definition of mediocre.
The only QBs I give you are the following: 1 Brady 2 Brees 3 Rodgers 4 Ryan 5 Wentz 6 Wilson 7 Big Ben 8 Carr 9 Stafford (debatable) That is 9 QBs. Watson is in no way better then Cousins ... Watson still unproven ... Cousins has done far more ... So yeah, 16 is absolutely out of the question.
Completely forgot about Luck and Newton...if you're drafting QBs tomorrow he would fall in the 15-20 range.
Cousins over the past 3 seasons has been a better QB then Luck. Luck might never be the same again. Newton? Awful passer STILL at this stage of his career. He is breaking down. I would take Cousins over both at this time. I am going to have to disagree with your assessment here. I still think Carr / Stafford is very much debatable. So yeah, Cousins is a top 10-12 QB in this league for sure. 20 range is absolutely you just being a hater.
Alex Smith INTs the last 3 seasons 2017: 5 2016: 8 2015: 7 Kirk Cousins INT's the last 3 seasons 2017: 13 2016: 12 2015: 11 Alex Smith’s FUMBLES the last 3 seasons 2017: 2 2016: 7 2015: 4 Kirk Cousins FUMBLES the last 3 season's 2017: 13 2016: 9 2015: 9 When you look at the two side by side they're somewhat similar quarterbacks, but the biggest differences are Alex Smith is more athletic, protects the ball better, more yards rushing, and wins more as a starter. By no means is Alex Smith showing signs of aging either. Bare minimum Alex Smith plays at a high level until 37, maybe 38. I GUARANTEE Jay Gruden will have MORE SUCCESS with Alex Smith during the next 4 years as his starting quarterback than he ever had with Kirk Cousins.
If the jets give cousins 30 mil a year that would be enough to push me over the edge. So yeah go ahead and do it. Put me out my life long misery. No way he comes here anyway unless the jets massively over pay for him. Why over pay for a QB that's just going to hand the ball off 30-40 times a game?
Denver can Cut on guy, Talib, and produce 11 mill in additional space giving them 37 mill with no others moves. They could make it work. I think the cards are not viable. The Browns have an intriguing mix of high picks and cap space if the new front office can convince him they can turn it around. The Jags, despite reports that they want Bortles to return, should be an option. They perhaps have one of the best rosters in football outside of the QB position. Not keeping Bortles frees up 19 mil for them. Bortles is not a 19mill QB. Then there is us. Mediocre receivers and running backs. Our O-line needs a lot of work. Our defense is also mediocre on good days. Signing him would be a big help, if the front office can fix other glaring holes through the rest of free agency and the draft. We should be a player in this game but I think Denver is the front runner.
