IF the Jets do make a serious run at Cousins, then for the love of God, please don't give up any draft picks in doing so. That is the main advantage of targeting Cousins over a draft QB. If we have to give up any draft value to get Cousins, we may as well pass on him and use our capital on a QB in this class. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Getting Cousins plus drafting a QB outside of round 1 in this deep class the best bet for Jets imo. Broncos and Vikings biggest competition for Cousins, but neither have the cap space the Jets have.
Falk would be a nice grab with 2nd round pick in this scenario, assuming Billy Price isn't still available. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
We gotta worry about the Browns too. They have more cap space. I suppose if he does sign there it just means another QB will drop in the draft so it will work out either way.
Reports indicate that the Jags will keep Bortles and Vikings are going to franchise Keenum. I think its between Broncos, Jets, Cardinals, and Browns. Elway will get him if he wants him. Shannahan will help out his old team.
If it was only about money we could go the highest, but cousins has said winning matters to him as well. We do not give him the best chance to win right away and that may be our downfall in any pursuit.
May want to slide the jags down that list a bit http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ars-expected-to-keep-blake-bortles-next-year/
After 50 years I am at a crossroads with this team Simply stated if Mac our Macdoodling GM signs a potential flop like Captain Kirk he should be handed over to the Klingons...and I will exit this Green and White nightmare that repeats itself season after season with really stupid moves by the FO...too draining ..you younger guys can develop your own ulcer with this team Overpay Overpay Overpay that's the NFL ..70 guaranteed for Alex Smith??? LMAO What Andy Reid did LAST DRAFT when he WISELY SECURED Pat Mahomes is exactly what Macdoodling should do which is grab some picks and hand them to the Colts...and there is NO future to mortgage if you already are NOTHING At spot 3 ..we are in the Crows Nest to see what the Browns and Giants do with their selection but it will guarrantee We SECURE a high potential QB among Rosen Darnold Mayfield That would be the SMART move..let's see what happens
The one Key word in your statement is "SMART" which the jets have Proven over their existence not to be.
The More I think of it the more it makes sense. Cousins has found some success with a weak supporting cast and a dysfunctional organization. We already have those in place so this could be like a second home for him.
If you accept the premise that Cousins and Smith are equally good QBs this was a genius move by the Redskins to save themselves about $10 mil per year and lock up their guy for four years instead of competing against 31 other teams in free agency. For a lousy third round pick they did well. Alex Smith is 33 and Kirk Cousins is 30 but Smith has been durable so far.
Kansas City improved their defense, improved their draft capital and got rid of Captain Checkdown and Captain Playoff Meltdown. The Redskins overpaid a QB 4 years older and not as good as their current one. Daniel Snyder will never learn.
Cousins is better than Smith and that's no knock on Alex because's he's good. The Skins were just worried about the lack of cap space if they had to franchise Cousins. Smith, while not cheap, gives them more cap flexibility. Cousins has the potential to be a top 10 QB for a lot of good years in front of him. He can make every throw, good poise and just needs a solid supporting cast around him. Sign him and the whole board opens up at 6 for this team. Get it done Mac.
Elway doesn't have much cap space and his roster is getting old fast. I don't know if he will be willing to pay up.
