I honestly can't see any way that Barkley will fall to us at 6 and, in my opinion, we have far to many needs to trade up for him. But I do agree that we need to upgrade the RB position either this year or next, depending on Free Agency.
Actually, reading his posts he's slowly becoming one of us. At least he's not the obnoxious Pats fan that struts around with their heads up their asses.
OK.. When is the big day? Is Bates taking the job or not?? This is starting to drag on just a lil bit.
Whatever he is smoking, I need that shit. Dude must think he's in the Twilight Zone where the Jets won 5 Superbowls. Anyone find a sketchy travel machine that resembles the Delorean?
Not so sure. Look at AP in Minny to a B Sanders in Detroit, to a W Payton, how many of these all time greats made their QBs great? Or transformed their teams O into something great? Dallas isn't a good example, the QB was above average even as a rookie, the OL was a NFL best, WRs were great, TE great.
Evidently not the most coveted of OC positions is it... There's only 32 of these jobs but for some odd reason, this one seems to be #32...
Mike Shanahan is a fan of Jeremy Bates and gave him play calling abilities in 08, which was Jay Cutler's lone season. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...remy-bates-destined-success-article-1.3786063 “Jeremy was a guy that was ahead of his time,” Shanahan told the Daily News on Monday. “He’s an extremely bright guy. That’s one of the reasons why he called plays. I knew he could handle it. When you’re around coaches, you know who has the ability to call plays and who doesn’t. And it doesn’t take you long to figure it out… especially when you’ve called plays your whole life. Which people understand defenses? Which people understand the running game? Which people understand how the running game and play action are put together? Which people understand third downs?” Bates was in tune with all of it when Shanahan gave him his big break. Bates’ offense finished second in the league in total yards, yards per play and third-down percentage in 2008. He helped Jay Cutler to his lone Pro Bowl appearance. He was a schematic whiz, a guy who could talk football from sunrise to sunset if you let him."
@Ralebird can rest easy Tweet from cimini The Jets finally made it official, announcing Jeremy Bates as their new offensive coordinator. Also: Rick Dennison is the new OL coach/running-game coordinator and Steven Jackson is the new assistant DB coach. #Jets
It's Official Bates made the cut..whoopdydoopty He's new OC Capt Kirk is a big fan of his..ugh oh...the Road To Mediocrity just got wide open If the Capt is beaming down to engage said earthling Bates..NYJets O12 may go rogue
I'm not thinking this is the kind of news that should make anyone rest easy but at least it's official. I wonder why it took almost a month to get done and I wonder what it was that made Bates reconsider when earlier it was reported (or at least rumored) that he had turned down the opportunity.
