Interesting note, Don Felder lived in Gainesville, taught guitar lessons to TP when he was a kid.

I quite liked TP's music, overall. Sorry I never got to see him on stage. I really liked his cover of The Byrds' "Feel A Whole Lot Better. As a songwriter, however, his best work - I Won't Back Down, Runnin' Down A Dream, Learning To Fly, Into The Great Wide Open - was done in conjunction with Jeff Lynne.

Never saw him. Funny thing, last summer the wife and I were doing the winnebago warrior thing and we talked about how we should go see Tom Petty if he was playing somewhere. Neither of us is a fan and we don't own any of his music, but he's got so many hits that you'd know every song he played. I'm certain it would have been a good time.

I've been to my fair share of live shows despite the fact that I think most artists are just not very good live. Petty stood out to me as one of the few who did it well. ZZ Top was pretty bad ass too although the they're getting old and the last time I saw them it was pretty meh.

My wife and I are planning on going Winnebago warrior for a while when we retire. Go see all the shit we always wanted to in the states and maybe find a good spot to die.

I know what you meant by this (I'm a huge fan of gallows humor), but I'll tell you why it made it spit out my coffee. It could also be read that you're gonna take that Winnebago and drive it off a cliff in a suicide pact.

As far as Tom Petty goes, I thought his Super Bowl HT performance was definitely one of the better ones. 'The Jonas Brothers', not so much. It was awful. I laughed so hard Pepsi came out of my nose and I almost choked to death. It was that hilariously bad. It reminded me of this local play I saw years and years ago where this guy was in make up playing an old man in a wheelchair. The thing is, he didn't really know to manipulate the wheelchair, so he's trying to wheel himself out the way as the curtain is about to fall, but he's just going in circles and doesn't make it (these were old time heavy theatre curtains, mind you). The curtain side-swipes him as he's still going in circles, then it gets him again on the rebound. Totally fukks up his hair and his old man glasses get knocked off his face and go flying through the air perfectly silhouetted by the stage lights. Someone finally had to grab the wheelchair handles from behind and yank him off the stage. So, yeah, 'The Jonas Brothers', it was old man in a wheelchair level funny.

    What was this about again?
