So is Bates the OC? Doesn’t sound like it.

This is simply reading comprehension; sorry you're offended by that. Carry on with your "I saw it on the internet."

    Guess we read it differently.

My assumption was he heard rumblings in the Jets about how well regarded he is. You could be right that he's pulling lies out of his ass. He's done it before.

I get it, Manish is ass. I don't like him either. I would think though that if Schefter broke the story, then it's probably almost a lock to happen.

Not really sure who would be best suited to run this offense, cause in the end it'll be who's playing under center.

If true, then Schefter got punked.

I don't know if I've ever witnessed Adam Schefter being wrong.

Not really reading comprehension. It's more of an inference. If a reporter who covers a team says "and was considered the best offensive mind at One Jets Drive this past season" it means that he's hearing that from a source and from the way it was written, infers that it was from people within the Jets organization. You got a completely different inference from that and that's ok.

Not worth it at this point

I'm still trying to figure out why being "the best Offensive Mind" at Florham Pk. is something to hang a hat on. Its not like this offense has been anywhere near elite in the last decade or so. So what if Bates is considered the brightest mind in the bldg. The bldg. itself could hardly be considered the Cal Tech of offensive theory in the NFL.

Out you can look at the reality of the situation. In year one, with a backup QB and in year three, with an old journeyman QB and little in the way of WRs his QBs finished in the top third of the league.

Might want to wait and see what he can do with talent on offense.

Maybe the reports Bates didn't want the gig is because bowles and however he approaches that side of the ball. Sounds obvious, but if true, Bates should make sure bowles can go F himself on the offense side, contractually. Who knows.

  10. It’s a joke. This teams offensive philosophy is beyond pathetic. Its so obvious to everyone outside of the building but not at 1 Jets drive;A clear byproduct of a fly by night front office, clueless ownership & 1 conservative defensive HC after another

I've heard, in league circles, Bates is widely regarded as the best offensive mind on the jets. :)

Perhaps.. But being a good QB coach doesn't always translate into being a good OC. Maybe Bates has learned something from his days in Seattle where he was one and done. Given that this is Blowes 3rd OC in 4 years, maybe Bates is the one. Third time is the charm and all that...

We'll know in short order won't we.

I comprehend what I read and make no apologies for it. You continue to revel in your ignorance, and that's just fine with me.

Nothing, anywhere, says anything about what person or persons may have said that Bates is the brightest offensive mind at the Jets; all your whining and complaining won't change that.

True. I know this, can't wait to see an offense on the field that isn't a huge concern.

I agree with all of this. Many Jets fans would love to have Alvin Kamara and were upset that Mac didn't take him. I know I was, even though he is basically the same type of player as Powell and McGuire, albeit much better. I also wanted the Jets to add a bruiser either via FA or the draft, but I thought the Jets really needed a player like Kamara as well.

IMO neither Powell nor McGuire are starting-caliber RBs unless one is constantly rotating backs. I think Sony Michel is a similar type player as well, but I think he is a starting caliber RB. I still would love to see the Jets add a power back, or add Jaylen Samuels of NC State. He scored 10 TDs this past season and is supposedly an equally adept runner, receiver and blocker, thus a perfect WCO FB.

I disagree. There's no bar at "One Jets Drive." It could be just some of the players, but how would they know? It definitely implies that is the thinking of the Jets' organization.

This class of RB's is deep enough where we could theoretically add a RB and I think we will do so. Can't see Powell being cut in favor of McKinnon or someone of that ilk

Who said anything about Powell being cut? I don't think they should or will cut him. In fact, I'd be pissed if they did. The Jets could keep 5 RBs if they wanted to. They could keep 3 RBs and 1 or even 2 FBs. If they draft a Michel or Chubb, keep Powell and McGuire, and keep Thomas at FB, that's 4 "RBs" (3 RBs and 1 FB). They could draft Samuels and still keep Thomas as a bigger, more imposing blocker and have 3 RBs and 2 FBs.
