It's possible. We know the jets will have the money to lure Cousins. Will they have the coaching and recruiting strategy/image to do so.
Its January. There's a ton of things that need to happen before we reach that determination. Let's wait for FA and the draft. I think our offense is going to have a lot of new starters
I understand that, but Barkley is the kind of back and talent than can create his own holes as well as being a great receiving back thus providing a lot of options which will help to keep the defenses off balance. Of course upgrading the OL is still important, but if they have the chance to get Barkley you take him now and build up the OL afterwards.
I agree. We could theoretically use our 2 2nd round picks and free agency to do so. I would take him at 6 in a hear beat, assuming QB's are gone.
I’ll taking boring over the nerve racking seconds holding my breathe till the ball hopefully falls harmlessly to the ground.
I’d love to know why Difillipo was good enough to want to interview last year but now that’s he’s a free man Bowles doesn’t even talk to him.
haley has had a top 10 offense his whole career. bellichick is a huge cunt, so was parcells. you gotta be a dick to be successful in the NFL as a coach.
But the New coach and GM will select the next QB in round 1 of 2019 draft. By then the team will be a nice balance of experienced youth and FA players, the team "should" be nearly rebuilt except for QB. Mac screwed the pooch picking Hack, who regressed steadily over the life of his college career, and picking him well ahead of where he should have gone. He also took Petty who was in a similar type offense that geNO was in that doesn't translate at all to the next level. Until he proves otherwise I have little faith in his ability to select the right QB let alone package a deal for that QB if needed, so I already consider his QB selection tainted. Would you prefer Toilet to lead this re-constructed team or someone else? To me wasting the rebuilt talent with Toilet as HC is worse than whiffing on a FQB and replacing the GM and HC. The only thing about this upcoming draft that concerns me is Mac turning into trader Tanny and giving away the rest of the draft picks to select the wrong QB. Anything else (i.e. stay put and pick 6th) is fine by me regardless of outcome.
Jets will not be bad enough to pick first overall. Jets are always good enough to be mediocre but bad enough to be a playoff team. I would rather see this team win right now than to clean house, but I understand your thought process. Macc doesn't have the balls to trade 3 first round picks to move up and I really do think that the Jets will be players in the Cousins sweepstakes. I'm trying to be optimistic about the prospects of becoming competitive but much of what you said, especially regarding bad QB evaluation is true unfortunately.
If Bates wanted to hire McCown as QB coach, is there a type of contract that would allow him to be the QB coach as well as an active player (backup?)
Not sure how I feel about the hire, especially if we didn't even get involved in the Defilippo sweepstakes
I understand how you feel but the reality is that with Bowles as the HC no one like Defilippo would be interested - they almost HAD to go with Bates. Now we can only hope he lives up to his hype as "the brightest offensive mind in the building". Of course in the Jets building that's not saying much.
