Bullshit. The Browns are the league's premier tanking team and it has gotten them absolutely nowhere. When you lose unabatedly, guess what, you end up with a squad of perpetual losers. Losing should NEVER be the goal, no matter how bad things look. I'd rather have a "competitive" 5-11 than a fucking pushover 1-15. We are in MUCH better position than the Browns until they get their shit together. Anyway, Darnold declaring is big for the Jets. Speculation really won't matter though until we know where Cousins ends up. If he goes to a team that picks before us, it makes it even more likely we finally get our 1st round QB. The Jets themselves need to be all in on the Cousins sweepstakes. He may not end up being better in the long run than someone that we can draft, but the Jets can't afford to take the chance. Signing Cousins affords the team a ton of flexibility in the draft as well as finally placing a legitimate medium to long term starter in the position.
Yeah I agree. Every time I watch him, I feel like I'm mega impressed with his play right up until he makes a bonehead Mark Sanchez like decision; and he does this often.
As long as one of them make it to the Colts pick, I would say moving up 3 spots is realistic. Mike Maccagnan has already gone on record saying he's open to trading up for a quarterback. If the Colts are a willing trade partner then you pull the trigger for Rosen.
Perhaps, but the Broncos are in front of us as well. Getting into a bidding war would be very expensive. We have a ton of holes to fill, but QB is the most important position that masks other deficiencies. I guess I'm in the middle about it.
I don’t think so. Maybe the Jets get antsy and move to 4 for him, but I don’t see Cleveland, Indy or Denver wanting to drop out of the top 10 with their needs.
Getting that Seahawks 2nd rd pick gives us the added ammo we need to move up. If Mac signs Sheldon Richardson this off-season after releasing Wilkerson it will have been like stealing the Seahawks 2nd rd pick. Based on the draft value chart the Colts 3rd pick is worth 2,200 points, whereas the Jets 6th pick is worth 1,600 points. It's a difference of 600 points. Mac could offer up our 1st, and one of or 2nd rd picks (not both) we own this year along with a future 2nd rd pick. A package like that might work.
It may work, but I think every year has diff trade packages. I think a lot will have to do with Macc and how he bargains with whoever he may aim to trade up with. Also, as for Richardson, he came out and said he'd like to stay with the Seahawks. I personally don't want him on the jets because there was a reason he was let go in the first place.
Can't consider that till it happens.at Denver ..imo we need to knock Indy out of the 3 spot ..eliminate any shade of doubt they too want a QB.with Luck on the injury list...of course some opportunistic team behind us could want saquan B and tempt Indy with a lot of their own picks ...Tampa Chicago who knows?..of courseBuffalo
I'm not so certain that the Jets will need to trade up now, unless they only like one or two of the QBs. I'd hate to have to miss out on adding some other top prospects and improving the team. I doubt the Browns will trade down from #1. I expect Dorsey to take the QB he wants #1. The Giants could take a QB, Barkley, or look to improve another weakness. If the relationship between the Colts and Luck have soured, then ordinarily one might expect the Colts to take a QB, but to cut Luck they'd have to take a $22.2 million dead money hit. I can't see their doing that. Even if they waited until 2019 to cut Luck, they'd save $14.725, but would take a $12.8 million on the cap million dead money hit. In 2020 they'd still take a $6.4 million cap hit, but would save $22 million on the cap. They may be stuck with Luck. The Browns may be open to trading their #4 pick, but then again, could possibly add Barkley to their top QB choice, and think of what that would do for their offense. Denver is almost certain to take a QB at #5. Here's one scenario I could see. 1. Cleveland - QB Josh Allen (if rumors they have soured on Rosen are true), or perhaps even Baker Mayfield as he's more ready to start than Darnold 2. Giants - QB Since they have Eli under contract for another two years, they could draft a QB who they see as having a greater upside let him sit behind Eli for half a season or even the entire 2018 season, then either hand that QB the starting job in 2019 or let him compete with Eli for the job, and if he wins the job, they could cut Eli and save $17 million on the cap. Therefore, I think the Giants will go with either Rosen or Darnold, but could opt for Allen if the Browns take Mayfield. 3. Colts - I think the Colts will either look to get a stud pass rusher, OL or trade the pick. 4. Browns - I think Dorsey will take Barkley if he's still there, or perhaps add a top OL to help protect the new QB. He could look to trade down if he wants to add a top WR target for his new QB and gets a good offer. 5. Denver - QB If Allen is still available, I could see him being the pick. Then again, since Mayfield is more ready to start, and his ball would travel better in Denver's higher atmosphere, Mayfield could be the pick. I think Darnold will drop with the season he had. 6. Jets QB - I think there's a very good chance that Rosen, Mayfield, Allen, Key or Chubb and Barkley will be gone by this point. I know that some Jets fans love Darnold, but I don't especially after the season he just had. If he drops, and none of Rosen, Mayfield or Allen are there, they have to take him, however. I no longer have much interest in Jackson, Stidham or any other QB in the draft as the primary QB prospect. Hence if the Jets wouldn't be happy with Darnold, then they would need to try to trade up either the Colts or Browns just to get Mayfield or Allen. Depending upon the price, it may not be worth it, but they almost have to, as at this point, I wouldn't be very happy with Darnold.
Haha, would have been fine. Just saying it was not a franchise goal as many people said before the season.
Alex Smith, Cousins, the Minnesota QBs will all be signed by either the Jets or other teams picking in front of us/right behind us We will have a more clear picture by then, and also the QB prospects will start showing us who is worthy and who isn't
Doesn’t matter we’re fucked either way since Cousins= O’Donnell Darnold= Sanchez Mayfield= Manziel Allen= Hackenburg I haven’t heard an insane comparison for Rosen yet so guess he’s our only choice. Even though he probably has the most concerning questions out there.
Shouldn't change anything unless they now plan on trading up for one of them, because neither is going to fall into their laps at 6, as much as Maccagnan might want one to.
Cousins shouldn't be included in that list you have. If he's signed by the Jets, they may be in favor of getting a pass rusher at 6.
Good chance that Denver signs Cousins or another FA QB because drafting a QB in the 1st round 2 years in a row would be quit the contrary of how a good GM operates.
Lynch was drafted in 2016, same year as hackenburg. It might be too hard to pass on one of these QB's.
