Sure it does. It guarantee's you have the best chance of drafting an Super Bowl winning QB. Not unless you are drafting every other QB in the draft. And we're not. If you make a 1 to 1 comparison between the 1st QB drafted in a draft and any other # taken QB in the draft (like the 2nd, or the 5th) ... the "1st QB taken in the draft" position will always trounce the comparison.
He looked great tonight in his FIRST start vs the 2nd best defense in the league. I'd say he's off to a very good start.

Okay, I see what you're saying. Statistically it's probably more likely. A little better statistical odds. By no means any kind of guarantee. How many 1st picks are there that didn't win a Championship? You'd also probably have to skew the numbers in some way as far as the odds go with the higher picks over the the lower ones also. It all sounds great but that has little bearing on the reality of the teams approaches and the fact remains that franchise QB's are still available after the first pick. The Browns will get a shot, are you really confident that will end up well for them?
Nab a QB and draft Harold Landry, Clelin Ferrell, or Austin Bryant later as an edge pass rusher. If they ever scored a QB and an edge pass rusher this year it would be a coup.
It all depends on how you develop a young player. If the Jets had GOTTEN Watson he por badly would've sucked here as bad as every other qb we have drafted.
It's not a little more likely ... it's 5 times more likely than the 4th QB taken (20 rings vs 4 rings). And that's because Montana happened to be a 4th QB taken. Aside for him and Brady (7th QB taken and 5 rings), all of the comparisons are going to be much more than 5 times more likely.
Hmmm. So the amount of rings compiled by one guy is skewing your odds. I don't like this statistical analysis, sorry. I don't know, but I bet there's a better way to give a true statistical representation. There's a member, Homeofthejets, that's majoring in statistics. I'd love to see his approach to this and what he'd have to say. For whatever it's really worth, especially in this era of the NFL.
Agreed 100%. As long as it's a QB I will be happy. Have to try something. Then let him, a vet and Hack battle it out for starting duties. Petty can be a camp body if he wants but he doesn't belong on the 53 man roster. Might as well just cut him.
I pray to the football gods Darnold doesn't fall to us. He will not make it in New York. I believe this QB class is over rated. It sure as he'll isn't the 1983 QB draft class. I hope we go the FA route, draft the BPA to fill a major need. Barkley would help, Chubb would help. Trade down, get a lower 1st, hopefully grab another 2nd or 3rd if we cant fill a need at #6. Maybe Mac can break his cycle of wasting 2nd rounders, and have 4 picks in the top 60. With our line like it is, one of these young millennial QB's will flop here in NY. Stock this team with more talent across the board. That way when we do find our FQB he will have a chance. This team isn't ready for an inexperienced young QB. We have to many problems in the coaching aspect. Trading away our draft for one of these top 3 QB's would be a mistake in this rebuild.
